Story
Wellllll look who has made her way to the available page…it’s Stacey! If you’ve had your eye on this dreamy, creamy lady for months, well now is your chance to apply for this sweet creampuff. Stacey was an itchy mess when she came into FBRN’s care, and her skin issues proved too challenging for her previous owners. Since being on Cytopoint injections, her allergies seem to be under control.
Originally her foster mom wasn’t sure if Stacey was hard of hearing or just an expert at ignoring her humans because she appeared to hear the resident parrot just fine! The consensus is that Stacey might indeed be hard of hearing due to old age, so experience with dogs with hearing issues (or willingness to learn) could be helpful.
We hope you like Frenchie kisses, because one of her major requirements is that you are willing to accept that she is a cuddle bug who just wants to shower you with them. She may be getting on in her years, but Stacey still likes to play. It may be in small spurts, but she will chase a ball, play with toys and absolutely loves stuffies and hard bones to chew on. There’s not much cuter than an older Frenchie lady who still loves to enjoy a little playtime.
We hate to admit that no Frenchie isn’t perfect, but Stacey does have some quirks to make note of. She doesn’t like to walk on a leash, so a fenced in yard is a must. I mean, a girl has to get her steps in, right?! She might be 8-years-old, but she is living proof that age is just a number…as she can run fast. One of her top dislikes is being left alone. She will bark if you leave her inside and she can see you outside. While she does okay in a crate, but if she is left in there too long she will start stretching those vocal chords in disapproval. This means that sadly, apartment life isn’t the most suitable environment for Stacey and having a family member who works from home or comes home frequently would be ideal for her. She seems to have some separation issues so if she is left alone uncrated, she will get into everything…trash, birdseed, dog food, plants, basically in Stacey’s mind, there’s nothing off limits. You’ve been warned!
Potty training for Stacey is still a bit of a work in progress. She will go outside for her business, but doesn’t always indicate that it’s time. She is trained to use a potty pad but can be defiant and go inside where she shouldn’t. Stacey wants you to know that she likes to be the one in charge, and she’s not afraid to get bossy. She’s not a big fan of sharing…as she thinks the whole “sharing is caring” idea is overrated. She is fine with humans taking things from her but if she wants something that another dog has, she will take it. This means it’s important that Stacey’s new family has experience with strong-willed Frenchies. She wants you to know though, that she is indeed a good learner, does well with a structured routine, and is very much a food motivated girl. Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks!?
Stacey has a high prey drive, so she must go to a home that’s feline free. She also doesn’t get along well with medium or larger dogs, so her fur-siblings need to be closer to Frenchie size. Stacey is the type of dog who wants to be included in everything all the time! Stacey’s foster mom wants you to know this about her, “She wants to be included all the time. She is extremely sweet and has the cutest little prance and be ready to share your ice…because when she hears that ice maker going, she will be right there for her piece!”
If Stacey sounds like the perfect fit for your family, then submit your application and tell us why. She has been looking forward to having a forever family of her own, and it could be you!
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
