“Tavish is probably the best Frenchie I’ve ever fostered. Other than his back issue, he is absolute perfection. He is an old soul. He is gentle and sweet and reminds me of Ferdinand the bull: just wants to smell the flowers. He deserves the absolute best. I know the right family will appreciate how perfect he is and work to keep him healthy, happy, and pain free.”

Story
There really should be no need to reintroduce newly available Tavish because who could forget such an adorably round potato? He was surrendered after his former owner experienced a major life-changing event and couldn’t afford the ongoing care for his back issues. Well Tavish is on the hunt for his new forever family so read on and see if he would be a good match for yours.
If you looked up “practically perfect” in the dictionary, you might just find a picture of Tavish. Aside from his hind-end mobility problems, he is practically perfect. He lives with two resident canines and a cat. And while he hasn’t been around kids, we think he would do just fine. They just need to respect his limitations and not rough house or carelessly pick him up. If he goes to a home with other canine companions, they should be mellow and respectful because he shouldn’t be allowed to play too hard.
Tavish is gentle and sweet, crate trained, polite, lower energy and easy going. He loves chewing on antlers and stuffies and self entertains. When not resting in his crate, he is probably moseying around the fenced backyard. And if you have no fence, leashed walks are good and can keep him from overdoing things with his activity.
The ideal home for this special guy is one filled with patience, love, understanding and carpet. Bare floors are hard for his mobility so lots of rugs or carpeting would be best for traction. He could live in most any environment as long as 1) there are not a lot of stairs, 2) you have the stamina and capability of carrying him up and down said stairs or 3) there’s an elevator. Potty training is a work in progress, but highly successful when kept on a regular and consistent schedule. He does have control over his bladder and bowels. He would love to go to the office with you and mingle with all your coworkers but he would do just fine at home with a midday potty break.
We are truly hoping to find an adopter who can take Tavish to physical therapy and acupuncture. With continued rehab, Tavish should only get better and stronger. He will need to be crated for any flair ups of his hind-end weakness and be given gabapentin and/or carprofen as needed for comfort.

If you wish to provide this tator tot the best life, fill out an application and don’t forget to name drop local canine rehab specialists. He cannot fly and may not do well with long drives (more than 3-4 hours) so keep that in mind when planning your trip. He thanks you for your interest and, if chosen, will definitely show you his adorable “hoppy” dance around feeding time.
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
