“Marshal has been a dream. He is really smart and handsome. He has the biggest ears and a cute wiggle when he walks. Marshal runs to greet every person who comes into my office; he is a people lover. When it’s time to settle down he will lay down as close as he can get to you without being on you. Be careful you don’t leave your toilet paper roll out because he will steal it. He is not a morning dog as I have to give him a shake awake every morning, which I think is so funny. He really is a gem.”

Story
Make way for Marshal! Our bat-eared tank has rumbled his way on to the Available Page with one aim in mind – a forever home of his very own.
Weighing in a whopping 32 pounds, FBRN’s resident big boy found himself in rescue after suffering some injuries to his spine. Fortunately, Marshal hasn’t needed surgery, and his foster mom has been working hard to strengthen his back and teach him not to jump on everyone he meets (which isn’t just bad manners, but also bad for his spine!) Marshal enjoys a 2-3 mile walk every morning, which keeps him fit and gets the yayas out, and he has learned to use ramps to get onto the couch and down the stairs. His new family must be prepared to take these same precautions, to keep Marshal safe and help him live his happiest, healthiest life.
Personality-wise, Marshal is an absolute love. He’s never met a person he doesn’t like, and gets along famously with dogs of all sizes. He’s crate-trained and housebroken, and knows his basic commands plus a couple of tricks (shake and roll over). Marshal’s social butterfly nature is most on display when he accompanies his foster mom to office, where he charms everyone he meets and likely raises productivity through the roof. When he’s not playing with a toy or chewing on a bone, Marshal likes to snuggle close to his person and settle in for a snooze. And when this boy sleeps, he sleeps HARD! Don’t be surprised if you have to shake him awake when it’s time to get the day started!
The ideal home for Marshal is one with a family who will protect his delicate back and prevent future injury. This means no stairs and no jumping on or off furniture. If Marshal’s forever home is more than one story, his people must be able to carry him safely up and down the stairs, and must have barriers in place to prevent Marshal from accessing the stairs on his own. His long morning walks are also a must, as they help Marshal safely get his energy out while strengthening his muscles and keeping him at a healthy weight. As far as family members, Marshal would love a canine companion or two, but any resident dogs must be relatively mellow and not engage Marshal in rough play. The same goes for kids – any children in Marshal’s home must be old enough to understand his limitations, and not try to pick him up or otherwise play with him in such a way where he might injure his back. Since Marshal has never been exposed to cats, we unfortunately have to say no to kitties.
Marshal’s foster mom is absolutely smitten with her king-sized charge, and tells us: “Marshal has been a dream.
Well we don’t need any more convincing! If you think you’ve got the perfect home for our resident big boy, then fill out an application to adopt and tell us why. Just be prepared to travel, as Marshal is sneakily stealing TP in the lovely state of Michigan, and will not be shipped.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
