“Not only is Bently good-looking, but he has a lovable personality to go with his good looks. He is the total package! Smart, loving and fun! Bently loves to cuddle and play. He is just happy to be a part of whatever is going on. He also sleeps through the night in his dog bed sometimes gently snoring. His incontinence is manageable with a little patience and understanding. The rewards of having Bently to love are well worth the effort!”

Story
Stop the presses! There is a handsome new gentleman in town looking for a home to call his own. Four years old and full of fun, Bently loves to cuddle, play, and be part of whatever is going on around him. At 30 pounds, he is a big hunk of love. It is hard to believe this charming boy was once found abandoned as a stray. With his striking black coat accented by cream and tan markings on his cheeks and eyebrows, Bently is as handsome as he is distinctive.
Bently is the perfect mix of dapper and fun, but all that beauty does come with a few special considerations. He has a congenital spinal abnormality that has caused limited range of motion in one of his rear legs. Thankfully, it does not slow him down much at all. Bently still enjoys walking, running, and exploring the world around him. His forever family will need to be mindful of protecting his spine by avoiding stairs and limiting him to shorter walks and controlled activity.
His spinal condition has also resulted in some urinary and fecal incontinence. Bently wears a belly band in the house, although the pad is dry most of the time. While he does not appear to have full control over his bowel movements, his foster family has found that with frequent walks and a specialized diet, his incontinence is very manageable. He does not have food allergies, but he does eat a carefully selected diet to help keep his urinary tract healthy. The extra care Bently requires is easily outweighed by the love and companionship he brings in return.
Bently is always up for a good stuffie toy and is happy to entertain himself with a chew toy when needed. Outside, he walks nicely on leash and approaches life with curiosity and enthusiasm. He is smart and eager to engage, and he would benefit from continued training to help manage his excitement during introductions with people and other animals. At the end of the day, Bently settles in nicely and sleeps soundly in his dog bed, sometimes gently snoring his foster family to sleep.
Bently gets along well with other dogs and enjoys meeting people after proper introductions. He could do well in many different home environments, including an office setting, as long as his physical needs are respected and his back is protected. He has not been introduced to cats, so a home without feline friends is recommended. While he has not lived with children, he has never met a person he does not like and would likely do well with older, respectful children who understand he needs gentle handling.
His foster family reports, “Not only is Bently good-looking, but he has a lovable personality to go with his good looks.
This handsome boy is ready to find the forever family he deserves. If you think Bently could be the perfect addition to your home, complete an application and be ready to welcome this lovable guy into your life.
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family. Since Bently has filled out, he is now too big to fly, so potential adopters must be ready to pick him up.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
