FBRN’s newest lovable little guy is stealing hearts already. Meet Beans! This sweet boy was found as a stray in Indiana and was never claimed. He’s estimated to be between 2 and 4 years old and has already had quite a few things checked off his list. He was recently neutered and had his cherry eye repaired, and he’s been an absolute champ about his eye medication. Now he’s settling into foster life and showing us just what a special boy he is.

From the moment he arrived, Beans has been incredibly affectionate. He loves pets, snuggles, and showing off his belly whenever he gets the chance. He’s been an easygoing and very cooperative houseguest, appearing to be house trained and leash trained and is even sleeping through the night like a pro. Beans has also been great when meeting new people…including adults, a teenager and a small Cavapoo. On walks, Beans is curious about other dogs. When he spots a bigger dog, his ears perk up and he assumes his very best “bulldog stance” but he hasn’t barked, lunged, or shown aggression. He seems interested while also being a little unsure, so his foster family will continue giving him positive experiences as he learns.

Beans is still figuring out the whole food thing. He was initially convinced his foster family’s kibble was not up to his standards and promptly spit it out! He’s finally decided it’s edible, but he prefers a little company (aka hand feeding to get him started) at mealtime. Beans knows what toys are but he’s not showing much interest in playing with them. He does enjoy exploring the backyard under supervision and hasn’t made any attempts to escape. He’ll do a quick little trot around the yard before happily returning to his people.

One thing this foster mom has noticed is that Beans can be sensitive to a raised voice. If someone speaks loudly, he may immediately splay his back legs, so he does best with a gentle, patient approach. Given how readily he offers his belly and seeks affection, we suspect kindness and reassurance are exactly what this sweet boy needs. There is still plenty to learn about this adorable little bean, but so far he is proving to be an incredibly loving, gentle, and wonderful dog.
