“Personality wise, Ayko is every Frenchie owner’s dream. He is laid back and easy going. Ayko is potty trained, but will probably need some refresher reinforcement in his new home because he does occasionally pee inside. Akyo’s ideal home would have a yard, as he has grown accustomed to one, but he did live in an apartment before and is not much of a barker.”

Story
Please welcome three-year-old Ayko to the Available page! Ayko was surrendered to FBRN after his previous owner’s personal circumstances changed and she was unable to keep him. He was clearly very loved and arrived with a houseful of gear that will go with him. Ayko is a perfect match for his name, which is of Japanese origin and means “love, happiness, perfect, kind.”
Ayko is a mellow, easy-going guy who prefers sunbathing and snuggling to romping about, and would pick the doggie stroller over the leash any day! He’s friendly with everyone he meets and has especially taken a shine to his canine foster brother. He adjusted very quickly to his foster family’s household routine and you would think that he has lived there for years. He likes to snooze in the dog bed that is closest to his foster dad’s spot on the sofa and likes to be hoisted up to hang out. He is currently fostered with three other Boston Terriers and one extremely dog savvy cat. His previous owner said that he had been around her seven-year-old granddaughter regularly without any issues, but he can get nippy when playing and excited, so for that reason, older children would be best.
While Akyo loves to play with his stuffed toys, he is the ultimate dog toy destroyer so it’s best soft toys be kept out of harm’s way. When the resident pack goes into high security alert (barking at gate), Akyo will join in, but quickly bores with the security detail after a woof or two. His foster family jokes that that he has three intense work out MOMENTS per day. Once after each meal and when you let him out of his crate. He will usually do very brief zoomies or try and get one of his foster siblings to play. Ayko could live almost anywhere as he is not a barker, but he does enjoy having a yard. He would make a great office companion if your coworkers are ok being distracted by his cuteness.
Healthwise he is in great shape with a few of the relatively common Frenchie ailments. He has allergies that are thankfully well controlled with a special diet, Cytopoint injections and medicated baths. He also has a history of ear infections, which should be monitored for recurrence. His adoptive family will need to be diligent about keeping up with his routine to keep those dreaded itches at bay.
His foster family has this to say about Ayko, “personality wise, Ayko is every Frenchie owner’s dream. He is laid back and easy going. Ayko is potty trained, but will probably need some refresher reinforcement in his new home because he does occasionally pee inside. Akyo’s ideal home would have a yard, as he has grown accustomed to one, but he did live in an apartment before and is not much of a barker.”
If you think that you have the perfect family for Ayko then all you need to do is apply for him. Then be ready to pick him up should you be selected as his forever home. He is too large to fly, but the good news is he is an excellent co-pilot.
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
