Story
Please welcome Calder to the Available page! This handsome brindled gentleman has officially retired from his itchy, scratchy past and is now living his best life in Northeastern Ohio. When this nearly three-year-old hunk arrived at the shelter, he was dealing with some rough allergies, a few bald spots, and even a nail that had grown into his paw pad (ouch). With proper care, medicated baths, and allergy treatment, Calder has bounced back and is looking and feeling like a brand-new Frenchie.
Calder is a laid-back, easygoing boy with the appetite of a foodie and the heart of a couch connoisseur. His daily routine includes a good neighborhood stroll, since he must inspect every happening on the block, followed by some quality time on the sofa chewing a Benebone. After that, he is up for whatever. Zoomies in the yard, hanging with the resident dogs, or shadowing you from room to room like the world’s cutest security detail are all acceptable options for Calder.
He has lived comfortably with other dogs, cats, and older kids. Calder is submissive with dogs, polite with felines, although he does find chasing them interesting (so a dog savvy cat is a must), and he adores human attention. When he is excited, he can jump up or offer a playful nip, so dog-savvy children are important. He is strong on leash and could use a bit of polishing in the manners department, but he is smart, willing, and easily redirected.
Calder is fully housebroken, enjoys car rides, and would do well in a house or an apartment. He has lived in both. A fenced yard would be a perk, but it is not required. He thrives with routine: a daily walk, some cuddle time, and a schedule for his allergy care. His adopter will need to continue his Cytopoint injections, medicated baths, and sensitive-skin diet to keep him comfortable and looking sharp.
His foster mom sums him up perfectly, “Calder is a wonderful and special dog. He is lovable and sweet! He just wants to be with his people and chew on a bone. He is the easiest foster I have had! He is laid back, quiet and so easy to train. He wants to please and loves to play with other dogs. He thrives on a daily walk and is so curious about the happenings in the neighborhood. Calder would be a wonderful addition to any home!”
