Story
So the penny may not be in production anymore, but this Copper is ready to be circulated on the available page! At just under four years old, his former family surrendered him because their household was too busy with two young kids and they couldn’t provide the necessary vigilance needed to keep him from consuming inedible items.
Since being in foster care, beautiful black and tan Copper has thankfully not shown the same propensity to swallow small objects that might cause another obstruction. He no longer lives with young children and has several resident canine friends to keep him occupied. His new adopter needs to be aware of this history, and he cannot go to a home with kids (or adults) who will leave toys and smaller objects within this curious boy’s reach.
Copper is very food motivated which makes training easier, but he will also quickly gobble up anything that is dropped. No five-second rule with Copper! He doesn’t care much for playing with toys but loves other dogs and would do very well with a canine friend or two in his new home. And if he loves anything more than food and dogs, it would be people. Human companionship is nonnegotiable so he needs go to a home where he can be around his humans most of the time. Whether that is someone who works from home, is retired or can take him to the office, he just wants to be with you. He is house broken and crate trained so does well when left alone for a couple hours.
Copper’s foster mom says, “Copper has such a gentle, friendly nature. He is a happy velcro dog who thrives on human connection and likes to stay close to his people. He has a chill, submissive personality and is very fun loving.” She has even created his own IG account!
Copper does really well in the car and will even snooze in his car seat on longer drives so distance isn’t much of an issue. He is likely too big to fly. So if chosen, you’ll have to make your way to Maryland. And even though this Copper won’t turn green, everyone else will be green with envy once he’s adopted.
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
About Copper
Copper has a history of chewing and/or ingesting objects left on the floor, and required surgery to remove a foreign body prior to coming into FBRN. He should not be around young children who may leave toys unattended.
