Cordelia may have arrived at FBRN as a stray, but this girl clearly did not get the memo that she was supposed to be anything other than fabulous. Found wandering on Long Island, Cordelia arrived at the shelter underweight and in need of some serious TLC. She was dealing with bilateral ear infections, irritated and infected skin, fur loss, and some areas that definitely needed a good cleaning. Fortunately, FBRN stepped in, and this young lady has been getting the care and attention she deserves. Now, Cordelia is ready to find a family of her own.

Cordelia is a happy, curious, busy little bee who expects everyone around her to join in. She follows her foster parents and Frenchie sister from room to room like a little shadow and is always ready for the next adventure. A game of fetch? Count her in. Chasing a big bouncy ball around the yard? Even better. A dip in the doggie pool? Absolutely.

One of Cordelia’s greatest joys in life is playing with her canine foster sister, and for that reason, she must have another playful dog in her forever home. She loves dogs of all sizes and genders, enjoys initiating play, and is also respectful enough to back off when another dog lets her know that playtime is over. After a good round of Frenchie wrestling, Cordelia is happy to settle down with a chew and curl up beside her people.

Now, before we go any further, we need to discuss Cordelia’s preferred method of showing affection: the nibble.

To Cordelia, nearly everything is apparently a little corn cob. Blankets, pillows, bare toes, cheeks, ears, and occasionally other unsuspecting body parts can all become part of her affectionate nibbling routine. Her foster family describes this behavior as gentle, playful, and loving, and she has no bite history or resource guarding issues. She can be redirected, but this is still a work in progress, which is why Cordelia’s ideal home will have adults or older, dog-savvy teens who understand the difference between her enthusiastic affection and actual aggression.

Cordelia is housebroken as long as her people keep her on schedule. This girl is not interested in sleeping in on the weekends and expects her morning bathroom break to happen promptly. She is also crate trained, happily goes into her crate or a gated room for treats, and has already learned several commands. She’s still working on a few others, including the ever-important, “What is that in your mouth, and please stop eating it?”

Medically, Cordelia will need a family comfortable with some regular maintenance. She is presumed to have food and/or environmental allergies and currently eats a grain-free, poultry-free diet. She also has dry eyes that require lubrication twice daily, along with a hooded vulva and inverted tail pocket that need routine cleaning to keep her comfortable and healthy. Her foster family notes that she is an absolute angel for her beauty treatments and will patiently sit for eye drops, face wipes, nose butter, and all the other glamorous parts of Frenchie maintenance. She also has a luxating patella and a small corneal scar, though neither is currently causing concern.

Cordelia could thrive in a variety of homes, but a fenced yard would be at the top of her wish list. She loves to run, play fetch, chase balls, and enjoy the great outdoors. She could also do well with an active family that enjoys walks and adventures. An apartment is probably not the best fit, as Cordelia can get excited and bark when initiating play, and she likes to head outside for an immediate potty break first thing in the morning. She doesn’t need someone home all day, but she would benefit from a midday break if her people work outside the home.

Her foster mom shares, “Gina Maria Sofia Cordelia, Ginny for short, has been an absolute pleasure to foster. She brings daily laughs to our home, provides oodles of affection, and has been a near-perfect house guest. She is a happy-go-lucky gal, eager to please, and simply just LOVES LIFE. Her adopters better be prepared to receive endless love and attention from this precious goofball.”

If you’re looking for a playful, affectionate, slightly mouthy Frenchie who is ready to keep you entertained, Cordelia may be your girl. She’ll bring the toys, the zoomies, the kisses, and probably an occasional attempt to turn your toes into corn on the cob.

FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
