Story
Some dogs arrive in rescue with a story we know. Others arrive with a story we’ll never fully understand. Corey is one of those dogs.
This handsome white and blue piebald French Bulldog was found as a stray and brought to a shelter. While we’ll never know how he ended up there, we do know his future is looking much brighter. FBRN stepped in to give Corey the care he needed, and now this young boy is ready to find the forever family he deserves.
At just over a year old, Corey has settled beautifully into foster care and quickly shown everyone what a wonderful companion he is. He has an easygoing personality and a gentle spirit that make him a joy to be around. Corey loves being close to his people, whether that means relaxing on the couch, following you from room to room, or simply keeping you company throughout the day.
His foster mom describes him as the perfect mix of chill and play, and it couldn’t be more accurate. Corey is always happy to snuggle, but when it’s time to have fun, he’s all in. One of his favorite games is fetch, and he’ll happily chase after his toy, bring it right back, and patiently wait for you to throw it again.
Corey has also proven to be an excellent canine citizen. He gets along well with other dogs and has a natural ability to read their cues, knowing when it’s time to play and when it’s time to give a friend some space. He’s respectful, social, and settles easily into a pack. He also rides beautifully in the car, is content in his crate, and handles most of life’s daily routines with ease. Baths aren’t exactly his favorite activity, but he tolerates them like the gentleman he is.
Corey does have some special medical needs. He has severe pulmonic stenosis, a congenital heart condition that requires lifelong medication, routine echocardiograms with a veterinary cardiologist, and thoughtful management of his activity level. He currently takes Atenolol and Omeprazole daily and relies on his family to help ensure he doesn’t overexert himself, because if it were up to Corey, he’d happily keep playing long after he should stop. While Corey is currently doing well, this condition may impact his lifespan. An adopter experienced with French Bulldogs, or someone committed to learning about his condition and working closely with their veterinary team, will be the best fit for this special boy.
Corey would thrive in many different homes, whether it’s a house or an apartment, as long as his family understands his medical needs and can spend plenty of time with him. He loves being close to his people and would be happiest with someone who is home most of the day. Because of his heart condition, his forever family should also live within a reasonable distance of a veterinary specialist who can continue his cardiac care.
His foster mom shares, “He is the perfect mix of chill and play and sooooo friendly!”
If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will happily shadow you from room to room, keep you company on the couch, and always be ready for one more game of fetch, Corey may be the perfect addition to your family. With his heart condition, it’s best he does not fly, so be prepared to drive if chosen as his forever family.
Due to Corey’s location in Texas and temporary animal movement restrictions related to the New World screwworm response, Adopters in states outside of Texas may require additional paperwork. FBRN will work with approved adopters on any necessary paperwork.
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in private homes. For the safety of foster families, we do not disclose specific locations, and we do not arrange meet and greets prior to approved applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read each dog’s full biography.
