“Delilah is a sweet snuggle bug who wants to sleep right with you and sit right next you and watch tv. She’s young, healthy, and full of energy, but also has the ability to relax and chill. She would VERY much enjoy another like-sized dog friend, but she’s very playful and could annoy an older lazy pup!”

Story
Hey there, Delilah! We are thrilled beyond measure to see this beautiful girl make her debut on the Available Page, and can’t wait to see her find a happily ever after in the perfect forever home.
This eight-month-old pied beauty was surrendered to an animal shelter after she suffered an elbow fracture that her previous owners could not afford to treat. We’re not entirely how she got the injury, but now that she’s healed and we’ve seen her puppy energy in all its frenetic glory, we suspect that she took a flying leap from something off high off the ground. Delilah suffered what’s known as a humeral medial condylar fracture, which means that she broke the bottom portion of her humerus bone where it meets the radius and ulna. Puppies like Delilah are especially prone to this type of fracture, since their bones are still developing, and the only way to treat it is through surgery. Delilah was a champ throughout the entire process, and her last set of X-rays showed that the break is entirely healed. Hooray!
Despite a clean bill of health from the vet, Delilah is still a little unsure about walking on the surgically repaired elbow, and has a noticeable limp. That said, when it’s time to play, she seems to forget that anything was ever wrong with her leg, and has no problems tearing through the house with a toy or wrasslin’ with her canine foster siblings. We expect that as time goes on and the muscle strength in her bad leg returns, her limp will become much less pronounced, and may disappear entirely. At the same time, the injury puts Deillah at a greater-than-average risk of developing arthritis in her elbow joint, so this is something her new family should keep an eye on as she grows from puppy to adult.
Now that she’s feeling better, Delilah’s sweet, sassy personality is shining through. This girl is go-go-go, and like all puppies, can be a little rambunctious in her play. Okay, maybe a lot. After all, she’s a Frenchie puppy, which means she’s both stubborn AND high energy. But once she’s got her ya-yas out, Delilah is the perfect snuggle buddy, content to cuddle with her person or snooze in a sunbeam. She’s cool as a cucumber during car rides, and is also content to chill in her crate for a few hours if her people need to be away.
Ideally, Delilah’s new family will have bully breed experience, so there won’t be any surprises when she pushes boundaries and acts like, well, a bulldog. She is a spicy baby who is still learning her place in the world, so consistent training through positive reinforcement will be key. This applies to her housebreaking skills, as well – Delilah is doing a fantastic job so far, but it’s still a work in progress. Fortunately, she’s a smart girl, so we think it won’t be long until she’s mastered the art.
Another ideal situation for Delilah is one where she has one (or more!) friendly dogs to engage her play and show her the ropes. Any resident canines should be both playful and tolerant of Delilah’s occasional bouts of dominance and mischief. As far as kids go, Delilah thinks people of all sizes and ages are just swell. However, since she routinely comes in like a wrecking ball, she’s not a good match with younger kids. Delilah has never been exposed to cats, but due to her high energy and boisterous personality, we also have to say no to kitties.
Delilah’s foster mom is also her number one fan, and tells us: “Delilah is a sweet snuggle bug who wants to sleep right with you and sit right next you and watch tv. She’s young, healthy, and full of energy, but also has the ability to relax and chill. She would VERY much enjoy another like-sized dog friend, but she’s very playful and could annoy an older lazy pup!”
