“We all fell in love with Emmett the moment he walked through the door. He loves to be loved, is loyal and protective. Emmett has this big head w the softest ears, kissable cheeks and big brown eyes that look right into your soul. He is the perfect combo of sweet and spicy…. he will sit behind you on the couch to nibble/lick your ears and then crawl into your lap for chest scratches and a snooze. He is not a Velcro dog but is always near, keeping an eye. Our hope is for a family that will play hard with him, love him harder and snuggle with him always. He is a mush to love!”

Story
This adorable three-year-old cream Frenchie has made his way to the available page! Emmett was surrendered because his previous family could no longer dedicated the time and attention necessary to give him the life he was accustomed to. He was clearly well taken care of and came into the rescue with perfectly manicured nails, a shiny coat, and the softest ears ever. It is love at first sight as soon as you look into his big brown eyes!
Emmett is a very well-mannered sweet boy, but boy oh boy can he be stubborn! He does eventually give in, but not without a fight. He will need a home with an experienced pack leader as he is strong willed and needs to have someone that can help him mind his manners. Emmett will be your eyes and ears and alert you everything that is going on. He is the ultimate protector and while in foster care, he even tried to chase a deer and a groundhog that came into the yard. He loves to sunbathe in the yard so he can keep an eye out for anything suspicious on the street!
Emmet loves people, going for walks, and is not shy about letting you know what he needs. He is willing to sing for his dinner, let you know he needs to go in or out, and heaven forbid his ball gets stuck! He will immediately sound the Frenchie alarm! While Emmett likes children, he is 29 pounds of pure muscle and likes to play hard. For this reason, he would do best with older and dog savvy human siblings. Emmett also believes all toys belong to him and that they are made to be destroyed, which could cause some frustration with younger children. While other dogs would be great for Emmett, they should be his size or bigger and have a more submissive personality. Emmett has a dominant personality and is not shy about asserting himself.
Emmet is very protective of food, likely because of the strict diet he is on. He is currently fed separately from the other dogs in his foster home, but he will go after food if it drops. Emmett has a very sensitive stomach, but has done well on a diet of Farmer’s Dog. His new owners should be careful not to feed him any human food or treats. Even though he had airways surgery in the past, he is still a heavy breather and snores quite heavily.
Emmett’s foster mom had this to say about him, “We all fell in love with Emmett the moment he walked through the door.
If you have the perfect home for Emmett, then all that’s left to do is fill out an application and be ready to pick him up should you be selected to adopt him!
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family. Emmett is too big to fly, but does well in a car as long as he has breaks. The ideal family would be withing 3-4 hours driving distance. FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
About Emmett
Emmett has IBD and should remain on fresh cooked food.
He has brachycephalic airway syndrome. He had nares and palate resection surgery done before coming into FBRN, but remains symptomatic, so his breathing must be monitored during exercise or play. He must wear a harness when going for walks, never a collar or choke chain.
Emmett’s eye folds should be wiped daily to avoid infection.
Emmett is a resource guarder who requires a firm pack leader and must never be around small children. He must be monitored during feeding and when toys are present
