Story
Flurry first came into FBRN’s care during the cold winter months, but now that spring has arrived and summer is just around the corner, this resilient girl is ready to make her debut on the Available page! Flurry was picked up by a shelter after being abandoned outside and was already paralyzed in her hind end when she arrived. Thankfully, the shelter reached out to FBRN to help give her the second chance she deserved.
Although Flurry was paralyzed when she first arrived in FBRN, we are happy to report that with time, care, and determination, she has made incredible progress and is now mostly back to normal. She still has some hind end weakness and can occasionally slip on slick floors, but overall she gets around very well and does not let anything slow her down. Her future adopter should treat her back with care and she would benefit greatly from physical therapy.
Despite everything she has been through, Flurry approaches life with enthusiasm and determination. She is energetic, playful, and especially talented at indoor fetch. Flurry could happily keep the game going for as long as someone is willing to throw the toy. Staying active is important for helping her maintain her strength, though she also appreciates downtime on the couch with a favorite bone or a pile of stuffies nearby.
Flurry gets along well with other dogs after slow and proper introductions. New people, however, can be more challenging for her. She does not enjoy unfamiliar people getting into her space too quickly, especially with hands or faces near her face, and she may react by nipping out of fear or overstimulation. Because she can nip hard enough to break skin, Flurry needs an adult only home with someone experienced, confident, and committed to helping her continue building trust and appropriate boundaries.
Due to her delicate back, Flurry would do best in a home without stairs and with a predictable routine. She is housebroken overall, though occasional accidents can happen since she does not consistently signal when she needs to go outside. A structured potty schedule helps her stay successful.
Flurry would not be the best fit for an office environment given her sensitivity around unfamiliar people. She thrives most with someone who can provide structure, consistency, and clear leadership while also giving her the attention and companionship she enjoys. She is content being left alone for short periods, but she especially loves having her people nearby.
Her foster mom shares, “This little girl has worked so hard and come so far, from being abandoned and paralyzed to being a champion fetch player! She’s mostly sweet with a touch of sass, and a face that can melt your heart.”
Flurry is looking for a home that understands her needs and is ready to embrace both her determination and her personality. If you believe you can provide the love, structure, and support this special girl deserves, please complete an application and be prepared to welcome Flurry home.
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in private homes. For the safety of foster families, we do not disclose specific locations or arrange meet and greets prior to approved applications. For more information about the dogs in our care, please read each dog’s full biography.
