Story
For all the followers of fancy Francie, she has made it to the available page! After being alerted to a malnourished Frenchie in a crowded shelter, FBRN swooped in and coordinated transport to a loving foster home and just in the nick of time. Estimated to be about 5 years old, Francie was severely underweight due to chronic regurgitation. But after surgery to address her underlying issues and excellent TLC while in foster care, she is ready to find her special family.
In true Frenchie fashion, Francie doesn’t let her past define her and she is just as sweet, snuggly, sociable and shadowy as can be! You read that correctly, “shadowy.” She absolutely loves to be wherever her person is; like a moth to flame or a bee to honey. If you have a lap, she’ll find it to snuggle against. She will play with toys sometimes and take the occasional short walk, but is really all about lounging around. And in true SoCal fashion, sunbathing is a favorite pastime.
Since Francie’s surgery to address her airways, her regurgitation has improved tremendously, and she has been steadily gaining weight. Her new family will need to be committed to continuing her regimen of high-quality food, twice daily Prilosec before meals (acid reducer) and a steroid medication for at least the next 2-3 months. But any extra care she may require is worth it because she is just sweet as pudding pie! And she hasn’t met a human she doesn’t like, no matter the age and the same goes with dogs. She is as cool as a cucumber with a lovely temperament and could thrive in a home with or without kids or other dogs. She’s just a well-rounded, well-adjusted canine citizen.
Seeing as much doesn’t faze her, Francie could make a fabulous office dog. She actually thinks that her symphony of snores would be a great motivator for all employees. While potty training is a work in progress, frequent breaks seem to be the key to her success. She is crate trained and would need a break after 4-5 hours if she does stay home for extended periods of time. She can be vocal when left alone so that may be a consideration for apartment or condo living. But really, who wouldn’t want a free Frenchie serenade from time to time? We know we would!
Francie’s fabulous foster mom says, “She loves everyone she meets and is a “go with the flow” type of gal. About Francie
Francie’s radiographs show Kyphosis, so she must always be carried up and down stairs and must not be allowed to jump on or off the furniture.
Francie’s liver enzymes (ALT) were elevated on 03.13.2024 and should be checked again in six (6) months.
Francie has GI inflammation, likely due to the chronic regurgitation she was experiencing prior to her nares and palate resection surgery, and must remain on high-quality food, Prilosec twice daily before meals, and a steroid medication for the next 2-3 months, possibly longer.
Potty training is a work in progress.
