Story
Every so often, a dog comes into rescue that breaks your heart. Because life so far has been stacked against them and they are a loving, beautiful dog who just needs a break. That is our Gunner.
Our little warrior ended up at the SPCA in Washington, D.C. in deplorable condition: unable to walk, chronic double ear infections, a skin condition and dry eye. But thanks to the incredible volunteers at FBRN, he is now able to walk and play, his skin and eyes are in tip top shape allowing our boy to be a top Gunner!
This handsome, five-year-old, 30-pound hunk loves everyone he meets, dog and human alike. He would like nothing more than to spend his days playing in the yard, wrestling with his buddies and chewing on bones. If one of his buddies drops their bone, he is on it! And won’t give it back. So any canine companions must be submissive and happy to let him take the lead.
Short walks and a nice backyard are a must for Gunnar, given his medical history. His back is precious, just like him. So no stairs for this beautiful boy. But if you are looking for a road trip buddy, Gunnar is your guy! Everyone he meets immediately falls in love. If you have the time, he’ll cuddle with you all day.
Gunnar would be a great dog for one person or a whole family! He needs a regular schedule with a good mid-day bathroom break since his potty training is a work in progress. Although he would love a constant companion who could bring him into an office or be his at home conference call buddy. And like many Frenchies, Gunnar gets a bit itchy. Daily Apoquel and regular medicated baths will keep those itchies at bay.

FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
