Story
Is there any better way to wake up than to the smell of freshly brewed coffee in the morning? Well, if you haven’t experienced the invigorating aroma of puppy breath from a six-month-old Frenchie named Java no less, here’s your opportunity! Adorable Java was surrendered to FBRN as part of an accidental litter. She arrived quite shy and skittish, but after a couple months percolating in her foster home, this sweet little latte has developed more confidence and is ready for the available page.
While much improved since her initial arrival, Java is still a bit cautious with new people. Once you earn her trust with a little bit of time, kindness and a tasty treat or two, she enjoys being carried around like the little baby she is and taking naps near laps. Java absolutely loves her canine friends and needs to have at least one confident playmate, who can show her the ropes in her new home. While Java has no direct experience with children, because she is such a gentle soul, her foster mom thinks she would do well with calm children. Rough play (with humans) might frighten her. And because she is still a puppy and has shown no prey drive, feel free to apply if you have dog-savvy cats!
Java may be soft and gentle with her people, but she gets wild with her foster Frenchie sister. They run, chase, wrestle, and tug on stuffies; they play hard and then nap harder. When not playing together, Java enjoys greeting passersby through her fenced yard, chewing on Benebones or yak chews and relaxing in front of the fireplace on cool mornings.
Java is a healthy young pup, but she is a Frenchie and occasionally experiences the itchies. Her coat is beautiful, but she should continue on her current diet, and her adopter should be prepared to treat any future skin allergies (or other common Frenchie ailments), if they arise. She has been working hard on potty training so her new family must be patient and understanding of accidents and continue work with her. She goes into her open crate as a safe space and even does okay confined for shorter periods of time. She is not leash trained so that could be a bonding activity for her new family!
Java definitely needs a fenced yard for her frequent sprints and zoomies. She also needs more than just a midday break so work-from-home or retired adopters might be best. She still needs consistent guidance and training to help shape her into a proper young adult. She could probably go to an office as long as she has frequent opportunities for potty breaks. She’s actually a calm girl when other dogs aren’t around to instigate play.
Java’s foster mom says she “has the sweetest, most gentle disposition ever. She is a nice, gentle puppy who starts off cautious but warms up quickly to kindness and treats! She is playful and affectionate once she feels comfortable. She needs to have a doggie sibling to play with and show her the ropes. She needs a patient person or family to give her a forever home where she feels safe and loved. In return, she’ll give you an endless supply of affection and devotion.”
So even if coffee isn’t your cup of tea, we are sure Java will win you over. She has done well on short car trips so there shouldn’t be a distance limit. If chosen, fill up your Stanley and prepare for a road trip to Connecticut. She can’t wait to meet her future canine siblings. And humans.
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
