Story
Please welcome Jolene to the Available page! Two-year-old Jolene came to FBRN from a shelter and is ready to make up for lost time. This happy, adaptable girl loves everyone she meets and is always up for an adventure. Walks, car rides, camping, coffee shops, and outdoor dining are all firmly on her itinerary. Meeting new people and dogs is a particular favorite, so be prepared to help her resist the urge to greet absolutely everyone she passes. Jolene has never met a stranger, only a potential new best friend!
Jolene gets along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes and breeds and loves to play. She is also perfectly capable of entertaining herself with toys, though she thinks having a playmate is even better. Her puppy-like enthusiasm can occasionally get the better of her, but she takes corrections well when another dog lets her know she needs to dial it back a notch. She has met children of all ages and loves them. She does not have experience with cats, so for that reason we have to say no to kitties.
When she isn’t out making friends, Jolene prefers to keep her favorite person close. Very close. She is a bona fide Velcro girl who likes to keep tabs on her human at all times. She has shown signs of separation anxiety, including occasional potty accidents when left alone. Although she has made progress and no longer cries when her person leaves, she will need patience and consistency as she adjusts to a new home. A canine companion might help keep her happily occupied, as she has enjoyed playing with visiting dogs, but there are no guarantees. Jolene would do best with someone home most of the day, and doggy daycare could be a great outlet for her social calendar.
House-training has been a bit of a journey, too. Jolene has made excellent progress and is doing very well, but she isn’t quite ready to be awarded a diploma just yet. She may need a refresher in her new home, particularly as she settles into a new routine. A securely fenced yard and frequent potty breaks are essential, making apartment living a poor fit. Crating also seemed to increase her anxiety and contributed to accidents, so her new family will need to find another comfortable, safe arrangement for times when she cannot be supervised.
Jolene arrived with chronic ear infections that caused significant swelling in her ear canals. After more than four months of treatment, the swelling has resolved, but bacteria remain. She currently needs daily ear flushing and drops, with antibiotics as needed. She hasn’t shown the typical signs of allergies, but her ears will need continued monitoring and veterinary care. On the bright side, she takes pills like a champ, so at least one part of the medical routine is easy!
Jolene could be a wonderful first Frenchie for a family prepared to continue working on house-training and keep up with her ear care. She walks nicely on a leash, travels well, and would be happy to accompany her person to the office or on adventures, provided her potty needs can be managed. Children and playful canine siblings would be welcome, too. Just remember that Jolene’s favorite activity, no matter what else is on the agenda, will always be spending time with her person.
Her foster family reports, “I have had a LOT of dogs in my home over the years. Jolene is one of the best. She is so happy and joyous. She really deserves a person of her own. She has so much love to give. She is eager to please and ready to take on life together.”
If you think Jolene is your perfect match, please fill out an application. She is too big to fly under an airplane seat, but she loves car rides, so her lucky adopter should be prepared for a road trip!
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are cared for in their foster families’ private homes. For the safety of our foster families, we do not disclose specific locations or arrange meet-and-greets before applications are submitted. Please read each dog’s full bio for detailed information about the dogs in our care.
