Story
This adorable two-year-old brindle babe is an active, curious and social pup. He enjoys chewing on bones and playing with the resident pug. He doesn’t have any experience with larger pups. He also doesn’t have any exposure to kids, but he loves people and hasn’t displayed any concerning behaviors so if you have respectful youngins’ go ahead and apply. Having put on some much needed weight while in foster care, he is now pretty strong, like a lion of course, and pulls while on the leash. He could definitely benefit from some leash training. He is very interested in birds and squirrels and chases after them so he wouldn’t be a good fit for a home with cats.
Aside from the common breed trait of an elongated palate and brachycephalic syndrome, Leon is quite a healthy boy. He won’t be able to tolerate extreme temperatures or go on strenuous hikes, but he isn’t symptomatic other than some nighttime snoring. And who doesn’t sleep better to the white noise of Frenchie snores anyway?
Leon needs a securely fenced yard as he can be a bit of escape artist probably due to his adventurous lion’s heart. He might be okay in an apartment if he was able to go on a couple walks per day, but he also prefers consistent companionship and will bark and cry when left alone so keep that in mind if your lifestyle keeps you away from home most of the day. He would love to go to the office with you and provide stress relief for all the employees.
Leon’s foster mom has watched his amazing transformation saying “he came to me extremely emaciated and depressed. He’s come a long way and has blossomed into a happy and loving boy.”
If you’re looking for a resilient pup to add to your family, look no further and apply for Leon. And June is a perfect time for a trip to California so start planning your route, if chosen. Leon is excited to read (okay, have read to him) all the applications that are bound to start coming in.
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
