“This handsome guy came into our lives and just immediately fit in. He is so easy going, quiet, sweet and smart. He is thriving and getting more confident and sweeter every day. He deserves to have someone love him back the way that he loves, and at only 2 years old, he has a lot more love to give! He is going to need some patience and grace as he settles into a new schedule (just on the potty-training aspect of things) but he is going to make someone a perfect little “ride or die” friend.”

Story
FBRN’s pint-sized heartbreaker is ready to move from foster home to forever home. That’s right, Rhodes is ready to hit the road! His previous family tearfully surrendered him to FBRN’s care when (due to a healed previous spinal injury) they couldn’t accommodate his frequent potty needs. Rhodes is not incontinent, but he doesn’t have the best bladder control. So, if he hasn’t recently emptied his bladder and he gets excited, then he will have an accident. However, his foster mom reports that if you get him right out of his crate and calmly get him outside to some grass, he does just fine. It will be important for his new family to keep a strict potty routine, but in the meantime, he wears the cutest little overalls to keep him from having accidents.
We don’t know much about the previous spinal injury Rhodes had, but he doesn’t seem to have any mobility issues because of it. His foster mom did notice he seemed a bit wobbly when he came into FBRN’s care and the vet stated the instability with his rear legs is due to luxating patellas.Thankfully this does not slow him down! However, if he lives in a home with stairs, then he should be carried.
Behavior wise, Rhodes is basically a saint: great with kids, other pets, and probably would even help carry your groceries if he had thumbs. He seems to just match whatever energy level another dog has. When he is with his laid-back foster fur-sister, then he too is laid back…but when he is around the 2-year-old male resident dog, look out…all he wants is to play non-stop. His foster mom says that he will indeed calm down if you ask him to. What good manners!
Now speaking of manners, well, he doesn’t exactly have them at feeding time. He has shown to be a food resource guarder, so he needs to be separated from other dogs at mealtime. Also, extra attention should be taken when any food is spilled, as he most definitely will call dibs. Treat distribution on the other hand seems to be okay to do around other dogs. After going potty he waits for his treat like the two resident dogs in his foster home but does need to be reminded to take it nicely.
Rhodes is an easy-going, curious happy little boy. His favorite things to do are eat, play with the resident Frenchie, and cuddle up to people on the couch…in that order. A home where he can have kids in his life would make him happy, but he would be best served in a home with older kids (that can help with his schedule versus make it more difficult to manage). He’s been great with all other dogs and cats he has been introduced to and would appreciate having another dog around, but it isn’t a necessary.
This lovable fella loves going in the car and could absolutely go to work with someone, assuming his frequent potty breaks could be accommodated. He has done so with his foster mom, and she reports that he is the most handsome, silent, little desk buddy that makes everyone in the office smile. If going into the office isn’t possible, then a parent that works from home would be great or at least having someone come by to offer a mid-day potty bre. He will have an accident in his crate if he is left alone for too long. He also prefers going potty on grass more than hard surfaces, so while a fenced-in yard isn’t a must, close access to grass is.
Rhodes hasn’t displayed any destructive behavior aside from chewing up a bit of cardboard that he was left alone with his first weekend with his foster family (which was shredded but not eaten). He will sometimes take a bone into another room to chew it alone. Hey, even social butterflies need a little space sometimes! He likes to play with the stuffed toys when the other dogs are, but hasn’t dismantled them. He doesn’t chew bedding or get into things, but he does like to have a good look around and will play with one of the resident cats if they are up for it.
Rhodes’ foster mom has this to say about him, “This handsome guy came into our lives and just immediately fit in.

FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
