“Satchel spent the majority of her life used as a puppy factory and now she deserves so much love and affection. Don’t let her age fool you because she has so much pep in her step, it’s crazy. She is incredibly smart and a real people pleaser. Although she isn’t much of a lap dog, she is happiest just being with you. She loves to be picked up and once she’s up, she will give you massive kisses. She is a ball of energy and sometimes has a hard time settling down but if you have a blanket next to you, she may just lay down on it. She is a sweet, sweet girl.“

Story
Just like your favorite vintage bag, FBRN’s newest available senior Frenchie, Satchel, is ready to carry all the love you can give. She was found abandoned in a parking lot in pretty rough shape, but after a few months in foster care, this special delivery is officially ready to unpack her bags in a permanent home.
Despite living through quite a few rough chapters, Satchel’s golden years are looking bright. She is a spunky and soulful gal who just wants a human or three to adore her. She may not play much with toys but she’s a big fan of Yak chews and Bam Bones. She will also sniff-spect all of your bags if left at Satchel level: purses, grocery, shopping, work. And she may even sneak something out but it’s very easy to retrieve as she has no resource guarding tendencies.
Satchel would love to go home with another dog or two of similar energy. She doesn’t know the meaning of personal space so tolerant pups would be the best match. And she loves children but may be too excitable for very young kiddos as she loves to give unending licks and kisses to faces and makes sure to meet her “zoomies quota” of at least 3 per day.
True to the Frenchie breed, Satchel has a history of pretty severe skin allergies with numerous ear infections. Unfortunately, the previous ear infections were left untreated so she had to have a total left ear canal ablation procedure and there is pretty significant scarring on the right. She can hear but it is impaired. She is currently on a hypoallergenic diet and receives monthly Cytpoint injections to manage her allergies. Both of these must be continued in her adoptive home along with routine ear cleaning for which she is a very cooperative patient! One other important condition to note is coprophagia. Perhaps the habit of eating dog poop was caused by being crated all the time or as a survival instinct. Regardless of the cause, applicants need to be aware because she LOVES to give licks and kisses, making it extremely important to pick up any waste immediately.
Because Satchel was likely in a kennel most of her life, she does not do well with crates. Her foster home doesn’t even keep one out for her to see. Thankfully she is not destructive aside from a potential stolen sock or two if she doesn’t have a Yak chew to keep her busy. She is housebroken but it took a couple weeks for her to get the the new routine down pat so her new adopter should be patient with her as she adjusts to her new home. She also experiences separation anxiety so would do best in a home where someone is around most of the time. And who wouldn’t want to spend all waking hours with sweet Satchel? Speaking of, Satchel seems to have an internal alarm clock of around 430am, 530am if you’re very lucky, so early birds should apply to get this worm.
Satchel loves car rides and visiting dog-friendly establishments so if you’re looking for a copilot, Satchel will be there right beside you. She could probably adjust to being an office dog quite well as long as she’s allowed to follow you everywhere. She is usually quiet unless she is left behind, and after her solitary beginnings, she deserves to be included in most everything (yes, even trips to the bathroom).
Her foster mom absolutely adores Satchel and says, “Satchel spent the majority of her life used as a puppy factory and now she deserves so much love and affection.
If you have a soft spot for sweet old souls and squishy faces, Satchel might be the perfect fit so fill out an application. She’s too big to fly but loves her car seat and road trips so prepare your route to the sunny state of Arizona.
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
