Story
Here she comes now, sayin’ Si-mo-nee, mo-nee! This gorgeous merle princess is full of personality and looking for a forever home that will treat her like the gem she is.
Simone came to FBRN after experiencing an episode of IVDD. Her previous owner was unable to manage the cost of care, but thanks to quick medical intervention—including steroids and pain management—Simone made an incredible recovery. She has no lasting mobility issues and no bowel or bladder problems, but her new home must be committed to IVDD-friendly living: no stairs, no jumping on or off furniture, and yes, she’s perfectly happy being carried to and from her royal throne.
She also came into rescue with allergies and pyoderma, which have been well managed with Cytopoint injections during warmer months and medicated baths. Her skin should be monitored to keep her itch-free and fabulous!
While Simone has shown some leash reactivity to unfamiliar dogs, she recently had a successful “staycation” with another FBRN volunteer and their two French Bulldogs – a boisterous male and a mellow senior female. With off-leash introductions in a neutral space, Simone blended right in. They played, napped together, and even shared toys. If play got a little wild, Simone responded well to a firm “no” and took a break like a champ.
Because of this, Simone could potentially live with a well-matched dog who is calm, respectful, and properly introduced. Her ideal family will have experience with dog behavior and be committed to slow, structured introductions. That said, leashed greetings are not her thing, and her family should be prepared to manage this during walks and in public spaces.
Simone is playful, smart, and full of character. She loves stuffies, fetch, keep-away, snuffle mats, treat puzzles, lick mats, you name it. Benebones? Her absolute favorite. She’s also a bed-stacking queen who enjoys rearranging her blankets like a true royal decorator.
She thrives on routine and structure, sleeps soundly in her crate at night, and may need a little time to settle into a new environment. But once she feels safe, she’s affectionate, loyal, and full of love.
Simone really just wants to be included. Whether it’s snuggling on the couch, supervising chores, or lounging while you work from home, she wants to be where her people are.
One thing to note: Simone can be a little mouthy when she’s happy, excited, or playing. She may put her mouth on hands or arms – it’s not aggressive, just her way of engaging. However, this behavior can be off-putting if you’re not familiar with dogs, so her new family should be comfortable with typical bulldog play style and ready to redirect her appropriately.
So what does Simone’s ideal home look like?
- Dog-savvy, respectful kids? Yes! Simone currently lives with three children in her foster home and has done wonderfully. Older kids would likely be best due to her play style.
- Other dogs? Possibly! A calm, compatible dog with proper introductions could be a great match.
- Cats or small animals? No, due to her high prey drive.
- Experience? Yes—her forever family should be confident managing leash reactivity, resource guarding, and general obedience.
- Schedule? Simone is used to someone being home most of the day, but would also do fine with a midday potty break.
Her foster mom shares, “Simone is an amazing dog, and she deserves a family that will take the time to earn her trust. Once she feels safe, she gives so much love back. She’s truly a gem, and we know she’ll make her forever family so happy.”
If sweet, sassy and sophisticated sound like qualities you are looking for in your home then scroll to the bottom and complete your application for Simone.
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family. Simone does do well in the cart and would be content cruising to her new home in her crate.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations and we do not set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
