About Theodore
There is a familiar face back with FBRN, so everyone say hello again to Theodore!
Theodore originally came to FBRN after his family felt they could not provide the level of attention this special boy needs. Theodore is deaf, which means he experiences the world a little differently than most Frenchies. He is incredibly visual, responds well to hand signals, and loves locking eyes with his people to figure out what comes next.
After a previous adoption did not work out, Theodore has returned to foster care and is currently settling in and enjoying some well deserved decompression time. At first he was understandably a bit timid after traveling across the country, but he is already relaxing and showing more of his personality. One thing that was clear early on is that Theodore absolutely loves to play ball. If you are willing to throw it, he is more than happy to keep the game going.
Theodore enjoys being part of a pack but can have some resource guarding around food and toys, so thoughtful introductions and structure are important. He is also fully housebroken, though he is not the biggest fan of running around in grass. Rain, however, does not bother him at all. He will happily stand in it like it is his personal spa day.
Like many Frenchies, Theodore has plenty to say and is not shy about sharing his opinions. If he wants his ball or dinner, you will definitely hear about it. With patience, routine, and someone who appreciates his unique way of communicating, Theodore is sure to keep life interesting.
For now, Theodore is continuing to decompress and let his foster family learn more about the boy behind those expressive eyes. Stay tuned for more updates as this handsome guy settles back into the good life. Please click the ‘Donate’ link above if you would like to help him make his way to the Available page.
“Theodore is a sweet boy that just wants to be loved by his people. He loves attention and when he’s happy, he hops around in the cutest way to show his excitement. He’s a real people pleaser and even though he is hearing impaired at the very least, he looks at you with attentiveness as if he’s listening to your words. I would love to see him go to a home able to give him the attention he needs along with being willing and able to accept some behavioral challenges, which improve as he becomes more comfortable in his new space.”

Story
There is a familiar face back with FBRN, so everyone say hello again to Theodore! Four-year-old Theodore originally came to FBRN after his family felt they could not provide the level of attention he deserved. He was previously adopted through FBRN, but when his former home wasn’t quite the right fit, he made his way back into the rescue and is now ready to find his true forever family.
Theodore is a sweet and entertaining companion who knows how to keep life interesting. He’s a dedicated ball enthusiast (in his world, ball is life), a proud zoomie champion after potty breaks, and an avid TV watcher, though animal scenes can get him a little too excited. He’s also quite the communicator, using his own unique “voice” to let you know when it’s time to start the day.
This handsome guy is deaf or partially hearing, but don’t let that fool you. He’s incredibly attentive and does well with hand signals. He thrives with structure and clear communication, and he finds comfort in his crate, especially for sleeping and downtime.
Theodore does have a few medical and behavioral quirks that his future family should be ready to manage. He has cherry eyes and some skin sensitivities, receives Cytopoint for allergies, and has stenotic nares that may benefit from surgical correction down the line.
In terms of personality, Theodore loves people and craves attention, but he can take a little time to warm up to other animals. He currently lives with other Frenchies and does well, but slow introductions and continued boundaries, especially around food and toys, are key, as he can be a bit of a resource guarder. Because of this, he may do best as an only dog or with a calm, independent companion who respects his space.
Theodore would thrive in a home that understands the unique needs of a hearing-impaired dog and is willing to give him time to decompress and settle in. A fenced yard for sunbathing and ball chasing would be a dream, and while someone home more often would be ideal, he can adapt to a routine with proper structure.
His foster family says, “Theodore is a sweet boy that just wants to be loved by his people.
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
