Our little terrapin is crate trained and house broken. He would enjoy being brought to the office or would need a midday break if left at home. He knows “sit” and “off” and is ready to learn even more commands with his new family. His surrendering family could no longer give him the care he needed for some ongoing medical issues. Like many Frenchies, Tortuga gets a bit itchy beneath his shell. He is currently on daily Apoquel, a poultry-free diet and regular medicated baths keep to those itchies at bay. He also has a history of chronic eye ulcers impairing his vision, so his two, twice daily ointments need to be continued.

Story
It’s time to shell-ebrate! Tortuga has hit the available page. This awesome cream puff of a frenchie is ready to start accepting applications. Shell yeah!
Tortuga is a minor shell-ebrity among these parts as his fun personality has really shone in his foster home. At three and a half years old, he has proven to be the perfect mix of happy camper and mischief maker. He loves playing with toys and is sure to destroy all squeakies and stuffies that come his way. He adores lounging in soft spots, sun beams for extra credit, but please don’t ask him to move after he has settled on his bed!
He is a dream on a leash and if you have the time, he’ll cuddle with you all day. He also likes to find and chew that plastic bottle cap you accidentally kicked under the coffee table, so make sure small things are out of reach.
This turtle can get a bit snappish, especially around his food bowl and bed. Therefore, Tortuga needs an owner who is prepared to manage his resource guarding tendencies. He has shown some specific handling sensitives, which his future family needs to be aware of – like clipping his nails and taking a cone off and on. Due to this history, he cannot go to a family with kids and because of his resource guarding he would do best as an only dog.

FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
