Story
Please welcome Ube to the Available page! This six-year-old cutie was found wandering alone in a Walmart parking lot, but those days are behind her. Ube has settled beautifully into foster care and is ready to find a forever family to call her own.
Ube likes to know what everyone is doing and prefers to be wherever her people are. Whether she’s exploring the backyard, following another dog to see what they’re up to, or proudly carrying off a shoe she discovered, Ube approaches life with endless curiosity and enthusiasm. Her adorable underbite and tiny tongue peeking out only add to her charm.
Although she can be a little apprehensive in new situations, Ube has grown tremendously since arriving at FBRN. She’s friendly with new people, enjoys meeting adults, and has become much more confident venturing out into the world. Car rides aren’t her favorite, but she’s slowly learning that not every trip leads somewhere scary.
Ube currently lives with several other dogs and does well with them. She especially enjoys the company of smaller, playful pups but is respectful of dogs who prefer their space. She has also met a barn cat and was far more curious than anything else. Because she prefers a quieter lifestyle, Ube would do best in an adult home or one with respectful teenagers aged 16 and older.
This sweet girl is house trained when kept on a consistent schedule and does well going outside every four to six hours. She is still learning leash skills, as she’s become accustomed to having a fenced area to explore, so a fenced yard would certainly be a bonus. Ube is also an enthusiastic jumper and would benefit from continued training as she settles into her forever home.
Ube’s forever family should understand that she has epilepsy and will require lifelong medication to manage her seizures. She currently takes phenobarbital, CBD, Omega-3 supplements, and liver support, and we’re happy to report she has been seizure-free for the past month. Her family will need to be committed to keeping her medication schedule consistent and working with their veterinarian to continue monitoring her condition. Because stress can be a seizure trigger, Ube is looking for a calm, predictable home where she can feel safe and secure.
She would thrive with someone who works from home or has a hybrid schedule, as she enjoys companionship and can become vocal when separated from her favorite person for long periods. While she can be left alone for several hours, she is happiest when she gets to be part of the daily routine.
Her foster mom shares, “Ube is so entertaining! From her adorable underbite and tiny tongue peeking out to her zoomies and excitement at mealtime, she brings laughter every single day. Watching her explore the world, play with her toys, and simply enjoy life has been such a joy.”
If you’re looking for a loyal little shadow with a quirky personality, Ube may be the perfect match. Complete an application and be ready to welcome this charming girl into your family.
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
