Bueller? Bueller? Bueller? Actually, FBRN’s Ferris is present and accounted for on the available page! After finding himself in a shelter as a stray, Ferris is now ready for many days off with his new family.

When Ferris arrived in foster care, he didn’t even know how to sit, but his foster family says this pup can definitely learn new tricks and is food motivated, which really helps with the whole learning process. Ferris was recently neutered but prior to, he would occasionally mark. Please be prepared to patiently continue to manage any accidents as he settles into his new home. Ferris is crate trained and does well for up to four hours, but would prefer his crate time to be infrequent.

Like his namesake in the movie, 4-year-old Ferris is a people person, err dog! He absolutely loves people and adores children. He has a 5-year-old, two-legged foster brother and has very kindly interacted with kiddos as young as two. Ferris has a pretty strong prey drive so no livestock, cats or pocket pets. If you have other dogs, he should fit in just fine. If you don’t, he can fly solo too! He will watch for morsels left behind in other dogs’ bowls so be aware, but Ferris takes direction very well.

While he doesn’t necessarily need another canine companion in his forever home, he really wants his people to be around as much as possible. So if you work from home or go to a dog-friendly office, make sure to tell us in your application; and bonus points if you have little humans too. Ferris is a champion snuggler who has earned his nickname of “space invader.” Give him plenty of snuggles and a Nylabone to chew and he’s all set!

Ferris doesn’t have strict requirements on his new living abode: apartment or home, city or suburb, he will be content as long as there are unlimited snuggles. If allowed, he will bolt to go explore whatever has piqued his curiosity. As such, he must always be leashed while out and about and a fenced yard would be ideal. Ferris doesn’t require much exercise but enjoys strolling around the neighborhood and joining his people for lunch on a dog-friendly patio.

Ferris’ foster family wants potential applicants to know “Ferris is the total package. He is kind, beautiful, and endearing! He is very social and loves to stop and chat. He is nearly perfect except for his propensity to bolt randomly. His manners, both potty-training and obedience-wise need some refinement but he is a quick study!”
