Story
Here she comes now sayin’ Si-mo-nee, mo-nee!
Please welcome FBRN’s newest merle princess, Simone, to the available page. Simone came into our care when she experienced an episode of IVDD and her owner was overwhelmed by the veterinary costs.
In fact, Simone had a few a health issues diagnosed on her arrival to FBRN. Simone had an MRI which revealed that she had sustained a concussive injury to her spine at T13-L1 and L2-3, which resulted in a lot of swelling and temporary paralysis. Thankfully, her IVDD was treated medically with pain medications and steroids and we are happy to report that Simone does not have any permanent deficits or bowel/bladder issues. Her new love nest will need to be committed to ensuring her spine is cared for, which includes no jumping on/off furniture and no stairs. In true princess fashion, she is quite content being carried to and from her throne.
Simone also has allergies and was treated for pyoderma when she first arrived. She has responded well to Cytopoint for her allergies and her pyoderma has cleared up with medicated baths. Her new home must include Cytopoint injection into her care routine during the warmer weather months to prevent any allergy flare ups and reduce the chance of skin infections. Her skin will also need to be monitored.
Simone has displayed some resource guarding, leash reactivity and a high prey drive in her foster home. For this reason, Simone needs to go to a child free home. She can be leash reactive with other dogs. She must be monitored during feedings and with all toys or bones. Her new fur-ever family will also need to be committed to working on her leash manners and general overall obedience, but the good news is she is a smart girl who only wants to please!
Simone is a super playful gal! She loves stuffies, playing fetch and keep away, lick mats, treat puzzles and snuffle mats! Benebones are a personal fave and there is no doubt that toys and treats are definitely the way to this girls heart!!!
Simone is particular about her bed and she has been known to stack her bed and blankets like a queen rearranging them several times a day. She also loves her crate and sleeps there every night. She thrives on routine and structure and her new home must take this into account.
This sweet girl may require some time to get comfortable in a new home. Once settled she would love a more suburban setting to continue her daily walks. She is used to someone being home all day but would also be ok with a midday potty break.
Here is what Simone’s foster mom has to say about her, “Simone is an amazing dog, and she deserves a family that will take the time to earn her trust. Once she feels safe, she gives so much love back. She’s truly a gem, and we know she’ll make her forever family so happy.”
If sweet, sassy and sophisticated sound like qualities you are looking for in your home then scroll to the bottom and complete your application for Simone.
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family. Simone does do well in the cart and would be content cruising to her new home in her crate.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations and we do not set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
