In Memory of Henri
Prince Henri D, 08.23.08 – 05.07.21
Henri made it almost 13 incredible years. He was our first bully and the reason we came to FBRN to help others. Henri was the ring bearer in our wedding and our first son. It is impossible to explain everything he was in our lives.
After fostering a few dogs, we ended up adopting PeaNUT (FBRN’s “Ophelia”), who became Henri’s partner in crime for 8 great years. Henri began battling his own health issues at the same time that PeaNUT passed away. He managed to live almost 2 years after his body started to fail him. We made it our job to make sure that he lived out his bucket list in that time.
In the last couple years we determined that his song was “Where Rainbows Never Die”. Henri waited for us to come home from dinner before passing away in our arms. It was his final blessing to us. We played this song for him as he passed and we want to share it with all the other Frenchie lovers here.
“Where Rainbows Never Die”:
I’m an old man now, I can’t do nothing
Young folks don’t pay me no mind
But in my day I sure was something
Before I felt the heavy hand of time
I’m an old man now, I’m bound for glory
Time to lay these burdens down
Had enough of this old world
Of worry
Gonna trade my troubles for a crown
I will make my way across the fields of cotton
And wade through muddy waters one last time
And in my dreams I come out clean
When I reach the other side
Waste away the sunsets
Where rainbows never die
I’ve got on last thing to do
One more mile before I’m through
Casting off these earthly chains
Going where there’s no more pain
I will make my way across the fields of cotton
And wade through muddy waters one last time
And in my dreams I come out clean
When I reach the other side
Waste away the sunsets
Where rainbows never die
I’m an old man now, can’t do nothing
Young folks don’t pay me no mind
Henn – you are THE BEST! THE BEST! We love you forever. We will see you where the rainbows never die. We hope there are pucks galore and epic wrestling matches with The Nut until we get there.
Love,
Mom & Dad.
