“Little miss Adda has stolen my heart, and if there weren’t rules against us adopting our first foster, I would keep her. She has come such a long way and I’m so proud of her. When I first picked her up, she cried most of the car ride across PA. She wasn’t house broken at all and didn’t know how to go up or down steps or eat from a bowl. She’s always been a “kisser” and I could tell she was something sweet but had a rough first few years of her life. She’s had a bunch of litters of puppies and deserves to be spoiled and shown unconditional love. She is most happy when she’s snuggled up with someone. She has learned to play with a few toys and will now chew on treats/bones. She’s extra cute in the mornings when she gives kisses and enjoys some belly rubs before getting up. She also does this really cute stretch where she looks like a baby seal.”

Story
Did you know “Adda” means “a place where people gather?” And what a fitting name for our newest available Frenchie because our Adda loves her people and would love for them to gather around her all the time! This 4-year-old sweetie arrived from a commercial breeder without knowing anything about indoor pet life. Well, look at her now!
Adda has learned so much while in foster care. She is now housebroken as long as she is given adequate breaks. She is crate trained and tolerates it for a few hours, but doesn’t prefer it. In her foster home, she sleeps in her dog bed during the night. Adda walks well on a leash and isn’t reactive to other dogs while on walks. She even gets along well with cats, bonus! As far as other canine companions, more neutral or submissive dogs would be best. Adda has shown a tendency to protect her food and treats by growling and snapping at dogs (or kids) who get too close. She has never made contact but needs to be closely monitored during feeding, treat, and toy time. If they can’t be monitored, Adda needs to be fed and treated separately from any resident dogs to prevent any fights and keep everyone safe. She has a dominant personality so any resident dogs will need to be the right match and her family will need to slowly introduce Adda to new canine companions. If you have kids in your household, they need to be old enough to respect Adda’s boundaries and understand to go slowly until she becomes comfortable.
As mentioned, Adda loves being around her people. Her favorite things are snuggling up against her person, following her person around the house, and receiving tummy rubs from her person. She is beginning to discover and play a little bit with toys and enjoys getting peanut butter or yogurt off a lick matt. Aside from some itchy paws and ears, Adda is a healthy girl. Her new family should be prepared to manage her allergies and see their veterinarian if the situation worsens. And, as with any dog, if behavior issues arise that warrant help from a trainer, Adda’s family should be prepared for that. Even if no issues arise, a basic obedience class would be a great learning opportunity for Adda and a nice bonding experience as well.
Because Adda has become enthralled with being around her people, she would love it if someone in her new family could be home most of the time. After spending most of her young life as a breeding momma, we think she deserves all the attention she can soak up! Adda might also adapt to office life relatively easily if you’re lucky enough to work in a dog-friendly environment. Who doesn’t want to be the most popular person in the office with the cutest little potato coworker?

If you want to be Adda’s “adda,” and experience her baby seal impression every morning, fill out an application now and tell us how you would be the best fit. At only 23 pounds, Adda may be small enough to fly under the seat in-cabin, but your best is to plan your road trip to PA. FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
