“Alfie is a complete love-bug! Honestly, it will be so hard to say goodbye to him but I know with the right family, he will thrive and I will find peace knowing he is happy. He is sweet, snuggly, and one of the most loving dogs I have ever met. He just wants to be around you, have someone to play with, a warm bed, and a loving home. He is a puppy and that means he is mischievous at times. Even during those times, he is still so adorable! It has been a true pleasure watching him grow and learn. He is a very smart boy. Be ready for him to teach YOU a few things! He loves to sit in the yard, watch the birds and try to chase the butterflies. While he is very skittish and nervous when you first meet him, he warms up. He needs a family that can understand that versus taking it personally. He will come around – just give him time and space. I will truly miss having this little ham at my home! He will forever have a special place in my heart.”

Story
Faster than a Frenchie doing zoomies, Alfie has sprinted onto the available page! Alfie’s former owners surrendered him into FBRN care when they felt they weren’t properly equipped to care for an energetic puppy.
At six months old, this guy has a lot of energy! Whether indoors or out, Alfie loves to run and play. When he’s not running around in the backyard, he’s watching birds and chasing butterflies. Alfie is a family man and a snuggle bug who just wants to be with his people. This cutie will be the first one on the couch for a nap or a TV binge watching session!
When he’s not zooming around his foster home or snoozing on the couch, Alfie is playing with toys or enjoying a chewie. He enjoys his toys and chews so much that he doesn’t want to share! Alfie has only shown these resource guarding behaviors with certain high-value items, and although he’s never nipped or tried to bite, he will growl at his canine foster sister to let her know what is “his”. Alfie allows his foster mom to take away food and any toys, and thankfully his foster sister is a well-mannered little lady who doesn’t mind sharing!
While Alfie enjoys being with his foster sister, his resource guarding could be a problem in a home with other dogs. Alfie needs a forever family who understands his temperament and is prepared to manage his resource guarding. Without an experienced owner or additional training, Alfie should not go to a home with other animals. Alfie would certainly benefit from working with a trainer and we think he would enjoy the extra one-on-one time!
For the most part, Alfie is a pretty healthy guy. He doesn’t have any allergies or take any medications. Alfie does regurgitate his food sometimes after eating. While it has gotten better with the use of a slow feeder, it still happens from time-to-time. His vet recommended switching food, and foster mom is giving that a try to see if a change in diet will help.
Alfie can get nervous when he meets new people, but once he’s had time to adjust, he is a complete love! He’s been around children as young as three, and we think he would do great with a family that has children.
Like most Frenchies, Alfie would love a family with someone who is home during the day. He would also be fine with someone who works outside the home and a dog walker for a mid-day potty break. Alfie is housebroken and has only had one accident while in foster care. Pretty impressive for a puppy! He is also good in his crate and sleeps there at night. Although Alfie would be a hit at work, his skittishness around new people might not make him a good fit for accompanying you to the office.
Here’s what his loving foster mom wants you to know, “Alfie is a complete love-bug! Honestly, it will be so hard to say goodbye to him but I know with the right family, he will thrive and I will find peace knowing he is happy. Does the thought of snuggling up with Alfie melt your heart? If so, fill out an application and prepare for a trip to the Peach State if you’re selected! Alfie makes a great co-pilot for short car trips. Anything further than three to four hours in the car would be too much for this pup. Because of his anxiety, Alfie wouldn’t do well on a plane. FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
