“Amelie is a unicorn Frenchie–adorable, loving, health issues behind her. Everyone who meets her instantly falls in love. She is the sweetest little girl. Story
You don’t need to go to the banks of the Seine or the cobblestone paths of Montmartre to see this Amelie. She’s right here in California, and is ready for her own fabuleux destin—a forever home of her very own!
Amelie was picked up as a stray with a prolapsed rectum (which is just as awful as it sounds). The animal shelter kindly turned her over to FBRN, where she had surgery to fix up her bum-bum and a spay as well. (All funded by you, our wonderful supporters!) Now that she’s all healed up, Amelie’s true colors are shining through, and she is an absolute rainbow of puppy joy. She’s never met a person or dog who she doesn’t love, and her favorite spot in the world is foster mom’s lap. She loves playing with her much larger canine foster siblings, and doesn’t care a whit that they outweigh her by about 70 pounds.
Of course, at only 1 year old, Amelie is still full of puppy mischief. She is a notorious sock thief, and any of your MCIB collectible stuffed animals should be kept on high shelves. Potty-training is also still a work in progress for Amelie, which isn’t surprising given her medical history. Her “I gotta go” signals are subtle, and she’d just as well pee in the downstairs family room than go outside. Fortunately, Amelie is a Li’l Miss Smartypants and is eager to please, so with continued training through positive reinforcement, we think she’ll get the hang of it.
Amelie loves playing outside with her foster siblings, chasing her beloved tennis ball, and sunning herself on the deck, but she’s still a little unsure about leashed walks. For that reason, a fenced yard where she can romp about to her heart’s delight is a must. Amelie is so good-natured and playful that we think she’ll learn to enjoy leashed walks eventually, but like her housebreaking, it will take some patience and gentle training.
The perfect house for Amelie is one with another friendly canine pal (or more!) and a family that can shower her with attention. She wouldn’t do well being left alone for long periods of time during the day, since she loves being near her people and will cry if left in her kennel for too long. Amelie adores children of all ages, but any household kiddos should be dog savvy and old enough to understand that any toy dropped on the ground will be immediately hijacked by a certain bat-eared princess. Amelie has never been exposed to cats, so unfortunately, we have to say no kitties.
Amelie’s foster mom is understandably head-over-heels for this sweet petite girl, and tells us: “Amelie is a unicorn Frenchie–adorable, loving, health issues behind her. Everyone who meets her instantly falls in love. She is the sweetest little girl. My family just adores her and she has been pre-spoiled. She sleeps on my bed snuggled up and doesn’t move. She really does have the best little personality and is curious and full of joy.”
If you think you’ve got the perfect forever home for our delightful Amelie, then fill out an application and tell us why! Just be prepared to travel, as Amelie is soaking up rays in beautiful Southern California and will not be shipped.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
