“We have loved fostering Arthur! He is such a bright, gentle little man. My hope for him is that he scores a forever home worthy of a king. That they continue his training with compassion and kindness. He’s very sensitive. That he is allowed ice cubes whenever you fill a cup. And that he is a treasured and cherished member of some lucky family, forever.”
Arthur is a resource guarder and must be monitored during feeding and when toys are present. A slow intro is required if there are other dogs in the home. Arthur is an active puppy and potty training is a work in progress.
Hail to the King! His Royal Majesty Arthur has arrived on the Available Page, and we couldn’t be more excited to find this precious boy a kingdom of his very own. Arthur abdicated his previous throne after his original owners became unable to provide him with the care he needed. He arrived to FBRN with a UTI, but a course of antibiotics took care of that and the royal doctor (a.k.a the local vet) has given him a clean bill of health.
At just eight months old, Arthur is textbook puppy. That means a few things: 1) he’s cute as heck; 2) he has the energy of a preschooler who got into the chocolate-covered espresso beans; and 3) his training is a work in progress. Arthur has made great strides since his arrival in foster care—especially in the area of housebreaking—but his new family will need to continue his training with patience and positive reinforcement, and understand that some bumps along the way (or wet spots on the floor) are inevitable. Fortunately, Arthur is a very clever boy who really, really wants to please his people. He is highly food motivated, although he finds it hard to concentrate on his tasks when there are other dogs around. (We can relate, Arthur!)
Arthur’s favorite pastimes include gardening with his foster mom, going on walks, and relaxing with a nice antler. He is particularly fond of ice cubes, and prefers that his bowls of water be served “on the rocks.” He loves playing with other dogs, but fair warning—he plays HARD, and is best suited for playdates with similarly energetic canines.
The ideal castle for Arthur is one with patient, dedicated human subjects who will help him grow into the best boy he can be. Arthur has progressed by leaps and bounds thanks to the tireless efforts of his foster mom, but he is still overcoming a lack of socialization and training in his early life. Ideally, Arthur will have a human with him for the better part of the day, not only because he loves the companionship, but because he needs regular outdoor access to maintain his potty-training gains. Arthur also must be closely monitored to ensure that only toys and treats go into his mouth. It’s not certain whether he has a touch of pica or whether it’s just a curious puppy thing, but Arthur is known to put things in his mouth that definitely don’t belong. The floors in his new castle must be kept free of legos, catnip toys, or any other small objects that could pose a choking hazard.
Arthur is a lover of all creatures great and small (he is a benevolent king). The most important thing is that all members of the household be able to handle his exuberance. Older kids who aren’t easily knocked off their feet are best, as are dog-savvy cats and canines with similar energy levels.
Arthur’s most loyal vassal (a.k.a. foster mom) has this to say about her liege: “We have loved fostering Arthur!
If you’ve got an empty throne in your home that is fit for a King, then fill out an adoption application and tell us why you and Arthur would be the perfect match. Just be prepared to travel, whether by chariot, dragon, or otherwise—Arthur is ruling the roost and nibbling ice cubes in Central Texas, and will not be shipped.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
