Story
Our Little Miss Sunshine, Avery, has made it to the available page and is ready to find her forever family. Coming from a commercial breeder, Avery has truly blossomed into a confident, lovable pup. We don’t think she’s going to stick around this page for very long as she already has her sights on the adopted page.
If you’re looking for a social gal who loves to give kisses and just wants to be petted by everyone she ever meets, Avery is your gal. While she does fine at home by herself, she really wants nothing more than to be around her people. Going for coffee? Avery likes puppuccinos. Headed to a pet-friendly bookstore? Avery may not be able to read but she’ll definitely keep you company. If dogs are allowed, Avery will be up for accompanying you on any errand you have to run.
As her name, “ruler of elves,” implies, Avery has a little bit of a mischievous side to her but that’s what makes a lot of Frenchies so endearing. Foster mom says her curious streak “comes in spurts.” She is very interested in any food and other “goodies” that may be lying on the ground so her future family must be vigilant when taking her on walks. She apparently wants to do her part to help clean up litter but that is best left to the humans.
Currently Avery lives in an apartment and is acclimated to city life but she is so easy going she would probably adapt to most living situation. She goes on several walks per day and would do best in an active home. She hopes there are kids around too because she has done very well with the ones she has met while in foster care, and she knows that kids usually means more attention. And Avery is all about receiving attention!
While she doesn’t live with any other dogs, she has been getting better about meeting dogs while on leash. She is even more comfortable when she is off leash, carefully monitored at the dog park, so there is potential for her to live with another dog as long as slow introductions are followed and she is given time to adjust. She should not go to a home with cats because she is a little too interested in them and actively seeks them out in the neighborhood.
Avery doesn’t really play with toys but, being the smart pup she is, she does enjoy an interactive food puzzle every now and then. If you work at a dog-friendly office, Avery would love to accompany you because she knows that petting a dog can significantly reduce human stress levels. She is also a quiet gal who will most likely settle quickly after saying hello to all her coworkers. If you have to go to work, a midday break or pet sitter visit could suffice.
Avery has really made a lasting impression on her foster family and they want you to know, “Avery by far is a special little girl. She is going to be the missing piece to her forever family. She is such a sweet and even-tempered sweetheart. She wakes up in the morning to give you kisses and wants to lay beside you. It’s like she’s in the best mood every day! Avery may be a bit too big to fly (don’t tell her that) but she has done very well on a four-hour train ride and in car trips around the city. If you feel Avery and your family were meant to be together, fill out an application and tell us why. Then plan your trip to New Jersey to meet your new best friend. She will be waiting with all the kisses to give.
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog
