Story
One of FBRN’s strongest and sweetest cutie-patooties, Avi, has made her way to the available page! It was with a heavy heart, that Avi’s previous owner surrendered her to FBRN because they were unable to provide her with the care she needed for her severe back issues. Avi had emergency back surgery and we are happy to report she has come such a long way. She faced complications with the anesthesia, leading to serious respiratory problems that made her recovery touch-and-go. This precious pumpkin defied the odds though, pulling through with incredible resilience and determination.
Avi is your typical funny Frenchie, with a goofy yet sweet personality who melts the hearts of everyone who meets her. She loves to give nose kisses, roll on her side for belly rubs and is serious about getting a lot of daily cuddle time. If the secret to life is staying curious…well that just might be Avi’s mission statement! This girl is quite curious and loves to sniff every corner and say hello to everyone she sees. Don’t worry though, she isn’t an endless ball of energy, as she also highly values her nap time. Her foster mom describes her as content and well-behaved, but because of her overly inquisitive nature she may not do well in an office environment. She might not let anyone get their work done!
Avi loves people and has been friendly with other dogs she’s met, but she is a resource guarder so she shouldn’t be around small children. She is also needs to eat on her own, separated from other dogs, as she doesn’t like other dogs approaching her when she eats. While she may not like other dogs being near her food, she is indeed playful and would probably adore a fur-sibling. Avi loves attention and companionship so having someone who is home (more often than not) is ideal. However, she does well in her crate for a few hours, so a midday potty break with cuddle time could also work out well.
With Avi’s medical history, her forever family should have experience with Frenchies and a strong understanding of IVDD and potential breathing issues. She is an energetic dog, so that energy needs to be controlled to reduce the chance of IVDD reoccurring.
Avi’s foster mom has this to say about her, “Avi is an absolutely beautiful dog. She has a wonderful personality and she might just hold the title for the cutest Frenchie we’ve ever had the pleasure of caring for. Her little face is one of pure joy. Avi is like a little sausage on legs, just so so cute! I am emotional writing this, just because she is such a delight, and she deserves to be cherished and loved deeply because she truly is a special dog.”

FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
About
Avi is a resource guarder who requires a firm pack leader and must never be around small children. She must be monitored during feeding and when toys are present.
Avi had C3-C4 dorsal cervical laminectomy surgery on 10.15.2024 with temporary palatopexy and ala vestibuloplasty. She must always be carried up and down stairs and must not be allowed to jump on or off the furniture.
Avi’s breathing should be monitored during exercise or play. She must wear a harness when going for walks, never a collar or choke chain.
