Story
Our beautiful flower Bouquet has been plucked from the FBRN garden and is now in full bloom on the Available Page! Smart, sassy, and oh-so-sweet, Bouquet is officially on the hunt for her perfect forever home.
Bouquet suffers from intervertebral disc disease (IVDD), a neurological condition that we see far too often in Frenchies. With IVDD, the cushioning discs between the bones of the spinal column bulge into the space containing the spinal cord, causing pain and even paralysis. We’re not certain whether Bouquet suffered an injury or her condition is purely genetic, but either way, she has limited use of her back legs. That hasn’t slowed her down, though—at just 2 years old, Bouquet is still very much full of beans, and she loves to roll in the grass and engage her Frenchie foster sibling in play. She also loves to snuggle with her people and get a belly rub or twenty!
Bouquet is mobile and enjoys going on walks; however, she starts dragging her toes after a few minutes of exercise. So when she’s out and about, it’s important that she have plenty of opportunities to rest and roll in grass to her heart’s content. It’s also essential that she be kept on a regular potty schedule. Bouquet understands that she’s supposed to do her business outside, but she is not entirely continent and when she’s gotta go, she goes. Finally, great care must be taken to ensure that Bouquet does not do anything to injure her back. That means no stairs, and no jumping on/off furniture. “Don’t worry,” says Bouquet, “I LOVE sleeping in my crate!”
In fact, Bouquet may love her crate a little too much, at least where other dogs are involved. Bouquet is a little bossy, and while she absolutely adores her Frenchie foster sibling, she can be possessive of her crate, food, and water. Fortunately, this possessiveness extends only to dogs, not people, but it’s important that any other resident pups are on the more laid back side and willing to tolerate a bit of diva behavior from Miss Bouquet here.
The ideal home for Bouquet is one with lots of love, no stairs, and someone who can keep her on a regular potty schedule. An enclosed yard would be fantastic, since Bouquet loves rolling in the grass and can play there to her heart’s content. A friendly dog of about her size is also a huge plus, as Bouquet absolutely loves wrestlin’ and wrasslin’ with canine foster sibling and would be lonely without a playmate. (Just remember that slow introductions will be a necessity, since Bouquet can be a bit spicy when it comes to her crate and food bowl!) As for kids, Bouquet thinks they’re great, but it’s essential that any little ones in her forever family are aware of her limitations and the need to protect her back. Bouquet’s possessive streak and all-around sass means that she would not be a good match for kitties.
Bouquet’s foster mom thinks that she’s the pick of the litter, and says, “Bouquet is a very funny and lovable dog. If no dog will play with her, she will grab her bone and throw it in the air and play with herself. She has a favorite lawn in the neighborhood and when we walk by she stops walking and wiggles in their grass for a significant period of time!”
If you’re ready for darling Bouquet to wiggle and waggle her way into your home, then fill out an application to adopt and tell us why you’d be the perfect match. Just be prepared to travel, as Bouquet is smelling the roses in southern Texas and will not be shipped.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
