“Byers does not seem to mind baths, but he is very hesitant with nail trimming. Grinding his nails requires patience and getting him in a position where he does not struggle. Byers is a smart boy and learns quickly when he is motivated to do so, otherwise he takes his own time to figure things out. He loves treats and food. Fortunately, he is very patient when he finishes his meal before the other dogs, but when they are done, Byers needs to inspect their bowls! He has his moments of energy when he gets up in the morning, but after breakfast, a nap is coming. We call him Eeyore due to his slow waddle and hanging head when he doesn’t really want to do what you ask of him. Byers loves being next to people and will lay where he can touch people when it’s time to snuggle on the couch. He will give kisses if you get anywhere near his face – whether you want kisses or not. He has been great to have in our home for the last 3 months. He will be greatly missed in our house, but he deserves to have people to be his forever family.”

Story
There is nothing strange about this hefty puppy who has become available on the FBRN page and we’re sure he will be just as popular as his name sake. Byers, now 7 months old, is part of the six-puppy accidental litter all named after characters from Stranger Things. He has learned lots of puppy things while in foster care and is ready for his award-winning debut with his new adoptive family.
If there are three things Byers likes, it’s people, other dogs, naps and giving kisses (for those paying close attention, we know that’s four! He has a lot of likes). He currently lives with one of his siblings and three other resident dogs ranging in ages from 1-12 years! He loves to play with the younger pup and then can be found curled up in any number of combinations with the other dogs. He certainly has no age restrictions when it comes to snuggling and napping seems to be his favorite pastime. If he’s not napping, he’s probably hanging out in the yard sunbathing or carrying a stuffie around the house. He also enjoys chewing on bones.
Byers is a healthy puppy, but has had an allergic reaction to the lepto vaccine and to ant bites in the past. As he matures, additional allergies may develop. His new family must be prepared for new allergies to possibly pop up and be able to address them. He is currently doing very well on Fromm’s Gold Puppy kibble and Zuke’s treats with peanut butter and oatmeal. So far so good.
Although Byer’s is a young pup, his energy comes in spurts. His foster family would love to see him in a more laid-back home so very energetic kids with busy activity schedules might not be the best fit for this people-loving pup. He would do okay with a family who is away at work as long as he has a midday potty break. And he would probably love to hang out at an office all day, especially if his coworkers were dog lovers who wanted to give him lots of attention. Housetraining is a work in progress, but he does very well on a schedule. He really only has accidents if he sneakily wakes up from a nap and no one notices. He is crate trained, sleeping in one at night and when left alone, but can be a little reluctant and a little vocal initially before quickly settling down.
Foster mom has done a wonderful job raising two pups from this litter and wants interested parties to know more about this sweetie, “Byers does not seem to mind baths, but he is very hesitant with nail trimming. “Get your app in quickly if Byers seems like he would be a good fit for your family. Byers will remain available for a minimum of 24 hours even if that means over 20 applications are taken. We think he might the popular kid in school, but be prepared to travel to Louisiana because he is too big to fly and he will not be shipped. Please note, Byers will not transfer to his new home until after Christmas.”
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
