“Candy is just a doll. Most of our friends and family cannot understand why she was ever given up and just fall in love with her! While she can get a little feisty while playing she responds well to a firm lead. She is such a cuddle bug it will be hard not to have her snoring in our laps every night. Our mini doodle will likely be heartbroken when she leaves. He’s getting used to her sleeping in his bed with him. We call her a professional sleeper-she loves to sleep in on Sunday’s and cuddle. Her allergies are nothing a little diet change and some Cytopoint couldn’t fix and she deserves a long life with a loving family. Not that we wouldn’t mind keeping her forever because we would in a heartbeat-we just know she’s going to get scooped up so fast!”

Story
As soon as she arrived in her foster home, Candy’s foster family started a rigorous program to treat her allergies and infected ears. After daily ear care, monthly Cytopoint shots and a limited ingredient diet, her health has drastically improved. We’re thrilled to report that she’s even regained some of her hearing! All of those ear flushes and daily ear cleanings really did the trick for this sweet girl.
Personality wise, Candy is a true love bug. Maybe a bit of a firecracker-love-bug since she easily goes from playing rough and tumble at 100 miles per hour to curling up in a lap and snoring! Candy responds well to correction, but due to her rough-and-tumble style, a more submissive playmate would be best. She does well with the two resident male fur-siblings in her foster home, but she and her former fur-sister, Pancake, no longer see eye-to-eye.
Candy behaves well in public places and does great on leash walks! She loves toys, treats, Kongs and wrestling and chasing other dogs. She enjoys long walks and all the cuddle time you can handle! Candy is fully house-broken and has had no accidents at her foster home.
Candy’s ideal home is anywhere her people are! Whether that’s a house, apartment, condominium, you name it, she’s happy as long as her people are near. Her forever family must be committed to keeping up her limited ingredient diet, allergy medications, and daily ear treatments. In true Frenchie fashion, she’s quite Velcro with her caregiver so be prepared to have your very own tiny shadow! It would be great if Candy’s forever family was well versed in allergies and had some Frenchie experience, but even first time Frenchie owners could successfully manage her care with a good veterinarian on board.
While she likes her fenced yard, Candy would do fine with daily walks and maybe some trips to the park thrown in for good measure. Her forever family could be one person, a couple, or house full – as long as no young children are present since Candy’s rough and tumble play style tends to include light nipping.
Candy doesn’t need someone to be home with her all day, although she would need a mid-day potty break and she’d certainly prefer more attention. A forever fur-sibling would be ideal so she could have a buddy to play with. Candy could also do well in an office setting since she’s not a barker and she would love all the attention.
Here are a few words from Candy’s foster mom, “Candy is just a doll. Most of our friends and family cannot understand why she was ever given up and just fall in love with her! FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family. Candy would love to have you fill out an application and perhaps get to pick her up and take her to her forever home early in this new year. Travel distance is no problem for Candy.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations and we do not set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
