“I picked Capone up after his surgery (many, many months ago) and soon fell in love with the broken and scared pup he was at that time. He WORKED SO HARD to learn how to walk again, run again, as well as pee and poo on his own. He has truly flourished and deserves NOTHING LESS than to be spoiled in his forever home (toys, harnesses, kisses, love, the whole 9). He has become very accustomed to being spoiled, loved on, carried everywhere (initially), and just a normal pup being a part of the crazy pup crew. Though he came to me scared, he has truly learned how to trust and love again. It just takes him time. Capone is the most lovable boy and deserves the best furever home out there. All he desires in this world is to feel safe and to be LOVED – A LOT. He is a true LOVEBUG and snuggle monster once he trusts his people. He has been through so much and has come so far. All I want for him is to continue to thrive, grow, learn, and just be HAPPY.”

Story
Beyond his back injury, Capone’s health is very good and he has no known allergies. While his list of medications may seem long, he takes them like a champ (and they are all essential to his good health). Capone will need to continue physical therapy and he must be lifted onto the couch and carried up and down any stairs. As he continues physical therapy, we believe that he will become stronger and more mobile. However, he should never be allowed to jump on or off furniture or go up and down stairs. A forever family who has experience with IVDD, or with Frenchies who have undergone physical therapy for back injury, would be ideal for Capone.
Capone is potty trained and crate trained. He doesn’t enjoy being crated and has a bit of separation anxiety, which could have stemmed from his injury, so he needs to feel secure before he relaxes. When kept on a potty schedule, he does very well, but his forever family should be patient as he learns a new routine and gets used to a new potty schedule.
Capone is very playful and also very vocal when he wants something! He loves to cuddle with his foster fur-brothers, and he also loves to play with his toys. Capone has been through a lot of changes recently – recovering from surgery, living with a new family, moving to a new home in a whole new city. Phwew! That’s a lot going on! But through it all, Capone has maintained his positive attitude, despite those sad puppy eyes!
His favorite thing to do is hang out with his pack, both people and dogs! Capone plays well with his foster fur-siblings and he loves chew toys and stuffies that are super strong. After a few short spurts of energy, Capone is happy being a couch potato and napping throughout the day. Because Capone can be temperamental about toys and definitely about his food, he should be fed separately from his fur-siblings. Due to his IVDD, it would be best if his fur-siblings are similarly sized and don’t instigate rough play.
Capone’s ideal home would be quiet with minimal commotion. He’s good with older, dog-savvy children, and he loves having the company of other pups his size. A forever family with Frenchie experience would be awesome! Capone loves being outside so a fenced yard or patio would be great. Someone who works from home is ideal but a mid-day break from a dog-walker would be just fine. Capone could potentially accompany his person to work as long as it was a quiet office. Capone tends to get anxious in environments with lots of commotion.
Here are a few words from Capone’s loving foster mom: “I picked Capone up after his surgery (many, many months ago) and soon fell in love with the broken and scared pup he was at that time.
