Story
As he’s settled into his foster home, it’s become clear that Cash will require an experienced owner. Someone who is able to work with him consistently, and willing to seek the help of professional dog trainer if necessary.
Cash wants to please his person, and has also learned proper boundaries with his foster siblings, but Cash will need consistent reinforcement in his forever home. He does much better on the medications listed below and will need these for trips to the vet or rides in the car. With medication he is able to travel for a couple of hours, longer trips are not possible at this time.
Because Cash has a bite history, and has nipped while in foster care, he will not be placed in a forever home with children. Cash interacts well with the cat in his foster home and we think he’d continue to do well in a forever home with feline friends.
Cash is full of life and generally a happy camper. He loves squeaky toys, Nylabones, and his love of tennis balls borders on obsession! Cash is high energy and would love another dog who can match his activity level. In his foster home, he interreacts with an 8-year-old Frenchie who just wants to chill and tends to get annoyed with his antics. However, he’s done very well with a younger, high energy, dominant female Frenchie.
While in foster care, Cash has learned that he cannot jump on people for attention; instead, he’s learned to bring a toy and sit, or stand and wait, for foster mom to throw the toy. He also sits and waits for foster mom’s signal before eating. Cash is potty trained, listens very well, and will come when called. In his forever home, he must have a consistent leader who is willing to continue training and reinforcing his good behaviors.
If you’re looking for a companion to play fetch with, Cash will happily oblige. This could be with a ball or a toy, anything is fine for a quick game of fetch! Cash loves walks; however, his leash manners need a little work! It would be ideal for Cash to have a fenced yard in his forever home where he can run and burn off some energy.
When left alone, Cash suffers from separation anxiety. While this can be managed with medications, he would do best with someone who works from home or can come home mid-day to spend lunch with him. When his person is at home, Cash becomes their constant shadow. An apartment may not be ideal because of Cash’s energy level and current lack of leash skills. However, Cash would enjoy accompanying his person to work; so if you’re an apartment dweller who is committed to his continued training and you’re able to take Cash to work with you daily, then please consider making Cash part of your family!
Cash’s foster mom had this to say about him, “Cash has come a long way! He came to me as a very hyper, nervous dog, and has blossomed into a happy, loving boy. With the help of a little medication, consistent training, lots of exercise, and love, he will continue to thrive and be wonderful companion for a lucky person or family!!”
If you can provide Cash with the home and leader that he needs, all you need to do is click the link and fill out an application. Then be ready to pick him up in sunny Florida should you be selected as his forever home. Please note that Cash must take medication to travel and should not be expected to travel by car for more than 4 hours.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
