Story
There’s only one thing Daphne wants Santa Paws to bring her this Christmas — a forever home of her very own. Can you help her wish come true?
This 2-year-old Southern belle was surrendered by a breeder, for reasons that aren’t entirely clear. What we do know is that Daphne is four-legged pure joy—a happy, bouncy, mischievous girl who is equal parts sassy and sweet. She has bursts of energy followed by long periods of lounging, and she’s always, always down for a cuddle. Daphne LOVES playing with toys and is a prodigious chewer, occasionally on things that really shouldn’t go in her mouth (the wooden bedposts come to mind). She’s particularly fond of a plastic squeaky bone named Pinky, which she carries with her everywhere—upstairs to bed, outside to go potty, and even onto her favorite napping chair. And she’s always game for a leashed walk or a car ride!
Daphne has never met a stranger and is immediate BFFs with every person she meets. We can’t exactly say the same for other dogs, though—Daphne is extremely vocal and rowdy when she sees another canine. She is also protective of her food and will hold a grudge if another dog approaches while she is eating. For these reasons, she would probably be happiest as an only dog. She is NOT a fan of cats. Daphne has never been around children, but given her general adoration for humans of all shapes and sizes, it’s a safe bet that she’d be equally smitten with kiddos. That said, Daphne is mouthy and still learning not to nip when she plays, so older, dog-savvy kids would be the best match for her.
The ideal home for Daphne is one where she gets love and attention in spades. She’s housetrained and crate-trained and has no problem being alone for a bit, but she’s happiest when she’s with her people. Daphne’s new family should also be ready for some puppy shenanigans. While she’s technically an adult, Daphne’s energy and mouthiness has puppy written all over it, and she is still learning the difference between what she can chew on (toys!) versus forbidden fruit (bed posts, table legs, etc.).
Foster mom is understandably smitten with this sweet girl, and says, “Daphne has been a perfect house guest and I am so sad to part with her! I could not have asked for a better foster! She adapted so well and has no problems adjusting to a new home! She is a little chunk with a spunky personality! She is so playful and loving! I am really going to miss having her around! I know she will be a perfect addition to her furever home!”
Well if that’s not a ringing endorsement, we don’t know what is! If you want to bring Daphne home for the holidays, please fill out an application to adopt and tell us why you’d be the perfect match. Just be prepared to travel—Daphne is dreaming of sugar plums in lovely Alabama, and will not be shipped. She is too large to fly, but she loves going for car rides and is a roadtrip warrior!
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
About Daphne
Daphne is a resource guarder so must never be around small children. She must be monitored during feeding and when toys are present. A slow intro is required if there are other dogs in the home.
