“Edison is the epitome of resilience. He loves big and loves hard. His human is the center of his universe and he deserves someone who will make him the center of theirs. He has the most beautiful soulful eyes and when he is content, he will put his little head in your hands, look deep into your eyes, and sigh as though he has finally found his perfect place in the world. He will be the perfect companion for whoever is lucky enough to have him join their family.”

Story
We’d like to shine a spotlight on Edison, who has made his way onto the available page! This handsome pup came into FBRN’s care at 5-months-old with two broken elbows (humeral epicondylar fractures*) after an accident in his previous home. After two surgeries on each leg and a lot of recovery time and physical therapy he is ready to find his forever home.
Like a lightbulb, Edison must be handled with care. Because of bilateral front leg fractures prior to his time with FBRN, the right home must be willing to continue him on a healthy journey by keeping him on joint supplements, maintaining a healthy weight and carrying him up and down stairs. While full of puppy energy, he must not be allowed to jump on and off furniture or go on long walks. And while he loves kids and other dogs, he should not be placed in a home with kids under 12 or large dogs to make sure he does not re-injure himself.
But his care is very much worth it, because Edison is guaranteed to be the bright spot in anyone’s day. Edison is the very definition of a velcro dog. He doesn’t need much in the way of exercise, just someone who can give him all the personal snuggle time possible. Cheese bones, chew bones, stuffies, puzzles, lick mats – Edison is all about toys, all the time. He loves his fur and human buddies alike. He’s a simple pup who just wants love.
Edison is still a young puppy, but is doing great with potty training. If his family is watchful and keeps him on a schedule, he does a great job doing his business outside. He still needs frequent breaks, so if you work all day, he will need a mid-day potty break. He does great in his kennel overnight, but is very vocal about his displeasure about being crated when his humans are up and about.
Edison’s ideal home is one where he is going to be THE focus of attention. It could be as an only dog or one of a few, in a home with adults or older kids. Any of the above could work, as long as he is a priority. Because of his injuries, too much chaos in a home would not be a good fit. Looking for an office buddy? He would be the bright spot of any office!
This little sparkplug has a great set of lungs and isn’t afraid to use them! Therefore, a detached home is probably best and a fenced yard is HIGHLY preferred. Due to his wonky gait, he does best where he is able to move freely at his own pace. He’s had a lot of leash practice and does well for short stints.
Edison’s foster mom has this to say about him, “Edison is the epitome of resilience.

FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
