“Eloise has absolutely stolen our hearts. She has her tongue sticking out of her mouth and the cutest little face. She came to us from a commercial breeder, not knowing what being a pet was – she did not know toys, had not been in the grass, was not house trained and did not enjoy being held. Thanks to FBRN, we have had the opportunity to watch her improve; becoming a truly spoiled little baby and it has been the most rewarding experience. The family that gets to adopt Ellie will be a very lucky one! Be prepared for all the love our adorable foster has to give and we know she will make her forever family the happiest.”

Story
We’re excited to announce that Eloise has flown through her time in foster care and moved on to the available page! Eloise came to FBRN after being released from a commercial breeder. She’s come a long way in a short time and we know she’s going to land in an amazing forever home.
Eloise is a Velcro dog who enjoys being close to her human and fur family. She just wants to be near you at all times; while cooking in the kitchen, doing laundry, wrapping gifts or just relaxing on the couch, when she will place her little front paws and head on your lap.
Eloise is close to potty trained, having had very few accidents recently. She has learned “sit” and “down” and now asks to go outside when she needs to potty. Eloise is still refining her dog etiquette skills. She is still learning things like when to play and when to walk away from her foster fur sisters. Eloise is a bit rough around the edges and tends to be pushy to get what she wants; luckily, her foster fur siblings are very laid back!
Health-wise, Eloise arrived in foster care with some weakness in her back legs and elevated liver enzymes. She should continue taking Dogzymes Liver Support supplements and get regular check-ups with her veterinarian every couple of months until her levels return to normal. The weakness in her hind legs has resolved now that she gets regular exercise chasing her foster fur-sisters around in the yard.
Eloise always does a happy dance when her foster mom returns home. Her front paws are her charm, either tap dancing, or poking her foster sisters to play, or laying them on her people when they sit together to rest. Eloise can be protective of her foster family, and will growl at strangers when they enter the house. After slow introductions and some treats, she will relax and ignore them. However, she has a terrible memory when it comes to meeting new people – even when she has met them multiple times before, she will still act like she needs the same new introduction every time.
Overall, Eloise would do best in a home with a fenced yard. An apartment or condo with shared walls could be problematic since she tends to bark at strangers and strange noises. Eloise would do best with adults and older children. She doesn’t enjoy young children who are loud and easily excitable, but she does great with children who know to remain calm while she gets comfortable with them.
Eloise would love a fur sibling to play with, not an older dog that she could annoy, but a younger playmate who could cope with her exuberance. Slow introductions are especially important for Eloise as she tends to get very excited when meeting new dogs and can overwhelm her new fur friends. Eloise is a little pushy and if she wants to play, she will not accept ‘no’ for an answer from her foster fur-siblings.
Eloise’s favorite things to do are to play with her foster fur-siblings, run around in the yard, take naps on the couch with her humans/fur-siblings, and just be close to her favorite person. Therefore, if she has other dogs for company, it is not necessary for her person to be home all day. Someone who can be home all day is certainly a plus, but a mid-day potty break would be just fine as long as Eloise has fur-siblings for company throughout the day.
In the near term, an office setting may not work well for Eloise, but we think she could eventually settle into an office setting that is quieter and not too busy with new people coming and going.
Here are a few thoughts from Eloise’s foster mom, “Eloise has absolutely stolen our hearts. She has her tongue sticking out of her mouth and the cutest little face. She came to us from a commercial breeder, not knowing what being a pet was – she did not know toys, had not been in the grass, was not house trained and did not enjoy being held. If adorable Eloise sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please tell us more in your adoption application! If you’re selected to be her forever family, be prepared to travel to Northern Illinois because FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations and we do not set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
