Story
Gorgeous Prince George is ready to find the perfect forever home! George is what we call a “Velcro Frenchie” because he loves to be near his favorite people. He is a very happy boy that can go from lazing around to playing fetch in the yard. George loves plush squeaky toys and will play catch with himself for hours on end.
On a typical day, George will lay in the sun and sleep while his foster family works from home, but the minute they get up he is ready to go! He LOVES to run outside in the yard and play with his squeaky toys…he also loves to run away when it’s time to have a serious conversion. What a trickster! In addition to being notoriously cute, George also loves training and walks, and did we mention how much this guy enjoys sun bathing yet? On sunny days it’s pretty much guaranteed that you will find him in the warmest spot he can find.
George is a very sweet boy and will gently take treats from your hand. Although, he does like to play tug and will try to get toys from other dogs. George is a very social guy and does not like to be left alone. He will typically follow his favorite person to every room and cry if they go out of his vision. He is learning to do things without his human nearby and is becoming more independent. His foster parents work from home so currently, George is not left alone for longer than an hour at a time. His new family should continue working on his training around independence.
George is mostly house broken. He has lifted his leg a couple of times in his foster home when in a new space. Once the space is “old” he stops lifting. George is crate trained and will go into his crate on command. He sleeps in his crate at night and stays in his crate for short periods when his humans are not home. George will cry for a few minutes right after being crated, but he quickly settles down.
George would do well in a home with older children, but he’s a bit boisterous in his greetings and could easily knock younger kiddos over. If George is placed in a home with other dogs, it should be with a dog that is submissive. His new family should be willing to take their time to introduce the dogs and continue George’s training on manners.
George loves other dogs, but he can be too much for some. He does very well with his similarly-sized foster fur-siblings who are both laid-back and more submissive. George exhibits dominating behaviors such as humping, and while he’s never been aggressive, we think he would do best with more submissive and laid-back fur-friends in his forever home. It’s also important that George’s family takes the time for proper, slow introductions, and perhaps additional training.
The perfect home for George is one with a fenced yard where he can run, ideally with a family where someone works from home. George slips on hardwood floors, due to his IVDD, so carpet or a willingness to get rugs is important. While his new family should be familiar with IVDD, they don’t need to be experts, just willing to learn. George is not the kind of dog who would do well in a busy office. However, if your office is calm and private, he would love to be with his person all day long.
George’s foster family has this to share about him, “George is the biggest lover I have ever met. He wants to be with his human and aims to impress them. The little guy also loves to play games and will run from you when you’re trying to have a talk with him. He is quirky and does things like play fetch with himself and sleeps on top of his crate. George embodies the dog who loves belly scratches and will roll over in a heartbeat to get them. George will thrive with his next family and has many many, many years to love and be loved.”
If you think George is the perfect dog for you, then pack your bags and get ready for a road trip. George is being fostered in Southeast Michigan and will not be shipped. George is too large for air travel, but he loves car rides. His adopting family should be prepared to drive to Michigan to pick him up. FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
