Story
George is mostly house broken. He has lifted his leg a couple of times in his foster home when in a new space. Once the space is “old” he stops the behavior. George is crate trained and will go into his crate on command. He sleeps in his crate at night and stays in his crate when his humans are not home. George will cry for a few minutes right after being crated, but he quickly settles down.
George would do best in a home without children or other pets. He has exhibited aggressive behavior and his family should be willing to continue training to address his triggers. His foster family limits toys (even though he loves them!) as they tend to trigger his aggression.
The perfect home for George is one with a fenced yard where he can run, ideally with a family where someone works from home. George slips on hardwood floors, due to his IVDD, so carpet or a willingness to get rugs is important. While his new family should be familiar with IVDD, they don’t need to be experts, just willing to learn. George is not the kind of dog who would do well in a busy office. However, if your office is calm and private (without other dogs), he would love to be with his person all day long.
George’s foster family has this to share about him, “George is the biggest lover I have ever met. He wants to be with his human and aims to impress them. He is quirky and does things like play fetch with himself and sleeps on top of his crate. George embodies the dog who loves belly scratches and will roll over in a heartbeat to get them. George will thrive with his next family and has many, many, many years to love and be loved.”
If you think George is the perfect dog for you, then pack your bags and get ready for a road trip. George is being fostered in Southeast Michigan and will not be shipped. George is too large for air travel, but he loves car rides. His adopting family should be prepared to drive to Michigan to pick him up.
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
