“Giblets first 4 years of life, only knowing a puppy mill, this was a big change for her. She is very sweet and is trying very hard but had to learn of a lot of new things in a short time of being a foster. Watching her fall in love with soft blankets and getting to know a loving warm touch has really been a privilege. She has been really brave and has faced a lot of new obstacles in a short time. It was fun to watch her face as we put up our Christmas tree and she got to inspect each ornament with a sniff and maybe a nibble. She has had a couple of litters of puppies and she wants to “mother.” If my cats would have tolerated her, I think she would have curled up with them. Her personality is just coming out and I have seen her silliness here and there and it will put a smile on your face when you see it.”

Story
Giblet is ready to find her forever home! This former commercial breeding mama is looking for a family who will help her learn all about the big wide world around her. Someone with patience who will continue her training would be a match made in heaven for this gorgeous girl.
Giblet is a love bug who wants to cuddle and snuggle-up on the couch with her human. She is a pretty quiet girl who is only starting to learn how to play with toys. She recently discovered how good a peanut butter filled Kong really is – her forever family should be prepared for much enthusiasm! Giblet enjoys spending time outside in the sun on nice days, but when the weather turns cold she runs outside to do her business and comes right back in to get all snuggly on the couch.
Giblet is still learning proper leash manners. She loves to smell all the new things she finds in the neighborhood and often takes long pauses to take in her surroundings on walks; everything is new and fascinating to her! She loves to investigate new places and rooms around the house, but Giblet is a true Velcro Frenchie who really just wants to be where her favorite person is all the time. She finds the kitties in her foster home very interesting and respects their space (what a good girl!).
Giblet has been learning the rules of indoor living while in foster care and her new family will need to continue her training. Giblet can be possessive of her favorite person; she gets very bonded and can be rude to the other animals when they are also just looking to get their heads scratched. She has growled at other pets, children, and even spouses. This behavior is easily corrected with a stern “No” and a quick shuffle to the floor if she’s on the couch. Giblet is about 75% crate trained and when she is kept on a consistent schedule she does her business outside.
Giblet has dry eye that impairs her vision and must get eye drops twice a day. She currently eats a grain free diet and gets daily pro-biotics. Her forever family will need to keep up this regimen.
The perfect home for Giblet is one dedicated to her training, and also to introducing her to all the good things in life that she missed out on in her past. Giblet could live in a home or apartment. She could live with a single person, couple, or family with children. Children should be dog savvy and age 12 or older as Giblet can get nervous around youngsters who are loud and fast moving. She would do great in home with other dogs or cats. Someone with previous Frenchie experience is preferred. A fenced yard is not required as long as Giblet is taken out for regular walks.
Giblet will thrive as long as she is with her people! She would love it if her family was home all day, but she will be fine as long as she has a mid-day potty break. If you’ll require the services of a pet sitter, please take note that Giblet can take her time to warm up to new people. Combined with the fact that Giblet tends to get nervous in the car, Giblet may not be the best dog to bring to the office.
Giblet’s foster family has this to share about her, “Giblets first 4 years of life, only knowing a puppy mill, this was a big change for her. She is very sweet and is trying very hard but had to learn of a lot of new things in a short time of being a foster. Watching her fall in love with soft blankets and getting to know a loving warm touch has really been a privilege. She has been really brave and has faced a lot of new obstacles in a short time. If you would like to adopt Giblet, be prepared to travel by car to central Connecticut. Giblet is not a good candidate for air travel and can also get nervous when traveling by car. FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
