“Gimlet has been an absolute pleasure to foster. It took a couple of weeks for him to really bond with us, but once he did, he was ready to be with us all the time. He likes to curl up in a cozy bed with the other pups for a nice mid-day nap. Once Gimlet has decided you are his person, he will always be right by your side. He is a lovely companion who will completely steal your heart.”
Happy little Gimlet is ready to find his forever home! Gimlet is looking for a family that can continue to take care of his special needs. If you are looking for a cuddle bug who loves all other animals and everyone he meets, Gimlet could be the one for you!
Gimlet is an expert power napper and loves lounging around with his favorite people. He is very laid back and has no exercise requirements. He loves spending time wandering around his foster family’s fenced yard when he is not playing chase with the other resident pups. He also knows how to enjoy a good sit in the sunshine and can be found taking in the rays on nice days outside. Gimlet adores children, gets along with kitties, and never has any issues with other dogs. His favorite toys are Benebones and Nylabones and he’s been known to take his toys out at night and play with them when his foster family is sleeping. Gimlet has a few favorite snacks, one being popcorn, so movie night is his favorite!
Gimlet is currently kept behind a baby gate in the kitchen when his foster family can’t be with him. Gimlet will do well in any type of home without stairs. Due to his back injury, his new family will need to always carry him up and down stairs and it would be best if he didn’t have too many in his own house. He does not require a family with previous Frenchie experience. Gimlet would prefer that his family have someone who is home most of the day; however his new family could come home at lunch to let him out for a potty break if they work outside the home. Gimlet’s new family will need to continue his acupuncture therapy and he may benefit from treadmill therapy as well.
Gimlet’s foster family has this to share about him, “Gimlet has been an absolute pleasure to foster.
If you would like to adopt Gimlet, be prepared to travel. This little cutie pie is being fostered in Michigan and will not be shipped. Thankfully, Gimlet is a good traveler and can fly in cabin on air planes if a road trip is not possible. FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
Gimlet experienced a back injury in March 2021 that has left him partially paralyzed. He has impressive upper body strength and will pull himself around quickly. He’s significantly faster than you would expect. Gimlet has no pain associated with his mobility issues and he enjoys his acupuncture sessions every couple weeks.
Gimlet may have a minor hearing impairment – if his back is to you, he may or may not realize you are in the room.
Gimlet has limited hind end mobility and must always be carried up and down stairs and must not be allowed to jump on or off the furniture. He must continue regular acupuncture therapy.
Gimlet is urinary and fecal incontinent. He will need to wear a belly band and remain on a daily probiotic.
