“Groot is an amazing big boy. He is as friendly and mellow as they come. He seems to give back whatever excitement level you give him. If you act excited, he gets excited. If you’re laid back, he’s laid back. He really only gets zoomies after his morning constitution. It’s just really hard to put in words how sweet this dog is. If you are sitting he will just come put his head up against you (even your back) not to be petted but to be close to you. He’s my shadow and does everything I do. He will only take his pills in a cheese ball. He doesn’t act out when around other animals at Petsmart. He seems interested but just minds his own business. Groot isn’t extremely time consuming but will require someone dedicated enough to him to make sure he gets his baths, special food, and allergy medicine. He was a train wreck with allergies when he arrived with me but within two weeks we had all that under control. You just have to do what is necessary and he will have a great life and be a great addition to any home.”

About Groot
Sweetie-pie, Groot is ready to fly the coop and find the perfect forever home. He was sadly surrendered to FBRN when his previous owner realized that keeping Groot’s allergies under control was more than he could manage.
Groot is the kind of boy who LOVES to be near his people! He is a very mellow guy and enjoys giving high fives and napping right next to his favorite person. His foster family describes him as being the most laid-back Frenchie they have ever met. He is generally a very happy guy and loves to play chase. In fact he will chase just about anything that moves! From a cat, squirrel, a leaf, a lizard, or a napkin blowing across the yard, if it’s moving, he’s chasing it. For this reason, Groot should live in a home with a securely fenced yard, and be kept on the leash when outside of his yard or home. He is generally a submissive boy and doesn’t need a whole of exercise. Groot is a people pleaser and does well with training; he already knows “sit” and gives high fives on demand.
Groot is allergic to certain grasses and trees and needs to be monitored when he is outside to make sure he doesn’t eat grass or chew on sticks. Groot is house trained and has not had any accidents while in foster care. What a good boy! He’s also got a bit of a quirk. Groot doesn’t like to take pills, and he has to take one every day. He is the master of spitting pills out of peanut butter. However, he will take them if offered in a cheese ball. Who doesn’t always have a cheese ball on hand!
The perfect home for Groot is with a family that has previous Frenchie experience and understands how to manage his allergies. They will need to be committed to giving him weekly medicated baths. Due to his grass allergies, his new family will need to be dedicated to leash walking him and not just turning him out in the yard for potty breaks (unless your xeriscaped yard is grass-free). Groot would do best with a family that includes a work-from-home or stay-at-home person, or with a family that can bring him to work with them.
Groot’s foster dad has this to share about him, “Groot is an amazing big boy. He is as friendly and mellow as they come. He seems to give back whatever excitement level you give him. If you act excited, he gets excited. If you’re laid back, he’s laid back. He really only gets zoomies after his morning constitution. It’s just really hard to put in words how sweet this dog is. If you would like to adopt Groot, be prepared to travel. Groot is too large to fly in cabin on a plane, but he does really well on car rides. He easily gets comfy in the back seat and falls asleep during trips.
Groot is being fostered in Southern Louisiana and will not be shipped. FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
