“Gucci is the sweetest girl. Her sheer joy in seeing her person will melt your heart. She has taken her recovery from IVDD in stride. She wants nothing more than to cuddle, kiss, and be near her human. Although it may take a bit of time and patience to help her brush up on housetraining and not jumping on furniture, she will give you 100% back in Frenchie love.”

Story
Since having her surgery, Gucci is fully ambulatory, having regained movement and all reflexes in her hind legs. She is still building strength and is a bit wobbly but she loves to run and play. Her future adoptive home will have to monitor her activities to make sure she isn’t getting too rambunctious. Having a diagnosis of IVDD, she is at risk for a future herniation so keeping her activity relatively low key is important in helping prevent a future occurrence. She will also need to continue training to eliminate jumping on and off furniture.
Gucci got along well with dogs in her previous home but has displayed some crate/barrier reactivity to some of her canine foster siblings, especially the male ones. She seems to be the “fun police” where she will bark and make noise if the other dogs are running around having too much fun. We think she will do fine with a mellow, submissive female canine in her forever home as long as introductions are slow and careful (as always) and care is taken to not allow them to roughhouse. Any children in her forever home need to be old enough to understand and respect Gucci’s back issues.
Gucci loves to follow her humans around, snuggle and give Frenchie kisses. And one thing we bet you’d pay money to see is her famous welcome-back-home “Gucci dance” she performs when her human comes home! While her favorite pastime is cuddling, she also loves massages (who doesn’t!), belly rubs, Kongs, lick mats and Nylabones. Her ideal home would be relatively quiet with limited excitability. If you host weekly raves, you’ll need to keep looking for your match; even though Gucci’s dancing would be the highlight. If you host weekly Bridge games, Gucci wants to review your application. An abode without a lot of stairs is necessary unless you’re an expert at regularly navigating stairs while holding 26 pounds of wriggling Frenchie.
Gucci is continent but needs continued help with house training and reinforcement that outside is the best place to do her business. She will use a pee pad. Gucci is a people pleaser and incredibly food motivated. She walks well on a leash and knows “sit,” “lay down,” and is working on “stay.” She is very focused on her human so continued training and learning will not only help Gucci with being a good canine citizen but also build a bond with her new family. Once she is fully housebroken, she could be left at home for a period of time with a midday break. Or even better, don’t leave home without your Gucci and take her to the office with you!
Gucci’s foster family has seen her through a lot and wants you to know, “Gucci is the sweetest girl.
If you are loving and patient and want to help Gucci live her best life, please submit an application today. Then if you’re selected, be prepared to drive to New York because this gorgeous girl is too big to fly.
FBRN does not ship dogs as cargo, so adopters are expected to pick up their dogs from their foster family.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
