Story
What kind of desserts will be on your Thanksgiving table this year? Sweet potato pie? Pumpkin pie? Apple pie? What if you just skipped all the pies and had a peanut butter cup, instead? Our chocolate-peanut-butter boy, Gunston, is making his debut on the Available Page this week, and nothing would make him more thankful than a forever home of his very own!
As a bitty baby, Gunston was given to someone who had neither the time nor the means to care for an energetic Frenchie puppy. (You don’t need us to tell you this, but gifting animals to an unsuspecting recipient is a really, really bad idea!) Fortunately, a family member recognized that the situation was not a good one for either Gunston or his owner, and arranged for Gunton’s surrender to FBRN. That’s what we’re here for!
Gunston is a true unicorn in the world of rescue—a completely healthy puppy with no behavioral issues to speak of. He arrived in rescue a bit skinny and nervous, but has since put on a few needed pounds and has revealed himself to be a happy-go-lucky, goofy pup. At just 11 months old, Gunston is full of beans and then some! He loves tearing around the house and wrestling with his canine foster siblings, not to mention playing with stuffies and chew toys. When playtime is over, he’s happy to snuggle up with his people and enjoy a good snooze or belly rub. (“Preferably both,” says Gunston.)
Gunston is looking for an active house, ideally with a fenced yard, so he can romp about to his heart’s content. And that romping would be all the better with some canine playmates! Gunston is a submissive boy who is happy to follow other dogs’ leads—he just wants a buddy for some wrasslin’ and zoomies! Gunston would also love some kids to join in the fun. He adores the 5 and 8 year old children in his foster home, though he might be a bit too rambunctious for littles who are just starting to walk. Cats are a-okay with Gunston, too! And did we mention that he’s crate trained, leash trained, and has just about mastered the art of going potty outside? Plus he’s super food-motivated and eager to please, so we’re certain he can learn more than a few tricks with some positive reinforcement training. Like we said, he’s a unicorn!
Foster mom is understandably smitten with this sweet boy, and tells us: “Gunston has been such an easy, sweet boy to foster. He is a silly goofball that brings a smile to my face everyday. He loves food, his fur-siblings, and his humans. We will miss him dearly but I know he will make a lucky family very happy!”
If you think your home is the right one for Gunston, then please fill out an application to adopt and tell us why! Just be prepared to travel, Gunston is dreaming of a turkey dinner in south central Texas, and will not be shipped.
FBRN dogs are in foster care in people’s private homes. For the foster families’ safety, we do not disclose specific locations, and we don’t set up meet and greets prior to applications. For detailed information about the dogs in our care, please read the extensive bios on each dog.
