About Kilo
Kilo has several allergies and must remain on regular Cytopoint shots, his current prescription diet, and have regular medicated baths. He has a history of skin infections that must be monitored for recurrence. Kilo has an intermittent neurological issue causing fly biting and slightly weakened hind legs which must be closely monitored. He must always be carried up and down stairs and must not be allowed to jump on or off the furniture. Kilo had stenotic nares surgery and neuter on 12.28.2020.
Kilo is a resource guarder so must never be around small children. He must be monitored during feeding and when toys are present. Kilo is dominant with other dogs and would benefit from obedience training. A slow intro is required if there are other dogs in the home.
Kilo is housebroken, but has occasional accidents in the house.
Story
Word on the street is that there’s an adorable cream puff in town and he’s ready for his forever home! Meet Kilo! This sweet four-year-old boy made his way to French Bulldog Rescue Network after his previous family was financially unable to provide the care that he needed.
When Kilo first arrived in foster care he was suffering from a yeast infection all over his bottom half causing patchy areas of hair loss. Kilo was diagnosed with allergies, and although his itchies are now under control, he requires a prescription diet as well as medicated baths and monthly Cytopoint injections. His new family must be prepared to maintain this regimen; otherwise his skin will become very red and itchy with hot spots and hair loss.
Kilo was also diagnosed with a neurological issue presenting as “fly biting” and a slightly weakened hind end. Although his hind end weakness does not affect his mobility, he must be closely monitored for worsening. This also means no stairs or jumping on and off of furniture for this guy.
Medical issues aside, Kilo is a happy boy who loves nothing more than a pile of toys all to himself and a human or two to share them with! He’s a smart, active guy with loads of energy who loves to play! He’s well behaved in the house preferring his very own pile of plush toys (the more the merrier!) or his favorite compressed wood chew to shoes or other household items.
Although Kilo doesn’t mind the company of other canines, he is very much an alpha dog, and a resource guarder. He gets along with his foster siblings but tends to bully them and steal their toys. Kilo has not displayed any aggression, such as growling or baring teeth, he just doesn’t think sharing is for him. For these reasons, Kilo would do best as an only dog and with dog-savvy children over age 12.
Kilo does well in his crate during the day as long as he’s provided a mid-day break, but he will be a ball of energy when let out, rushing immediately to his beloved toy bin! After a nice play session or brisk walk (which he really enjoys!), Kilo is ready to snuggle up on the couch with his people for some ear and neck scratches. He would love nothing more than spending the day napping while his human works from home or even accompanying his person to the office.
Kilo is housebroken and knows the “go potty” command, but he needs to be watched because sometimes he just runs back inside without going. Kilo prefers to be inside with his people and he is allergic to most grass so he would do very well in an apartment or in the city.
Here’s what Kilo’s foster mom has to say, “Kilo is the best little dog! He has so much personality packed into his compact little body! You can’t help but smile and laugh at his pure happiness when you give him the slightest bit of attention. His whole body will get wiggly when you scratch his rump. He deserves a family that will love him as much as he loves people!”
