“Kona is a sweetheart looking for a loving home that will give her lots of belly rubs/pets and be patient with her! She really means well but is just a youngster—don’t give her free rein right off the bat, and keep your eye on her because she can be mischievous when not watched. If it was up to her she’d want to be with her humans in their laps 24/7! We are going to miss her terribly when it’s her time to find her forever home as she’s got a funny silly Frenchie personality anyone can fall in love with!! She’s going to be a delight in your home!”

Story
Give a warm aloha to FBRN’s cutest little wahine, who is making her debut on the Available Page (and possibly crashing our servers). It’s Kona!
Kona was lovingly surrendered after her original owners realized they did not have the energy to keep up with an active (and we mean ACTIVE) puppy. We are so grateful that they entrusted her to our rescue, and we will stop at nothing to make sure that she finds the perfect forever home.
At just seven months old, Kona is full of beans and then some, and zips around the house like she’s had a cup or ten of delicious Hawaiian coffee. But she snuggles as hard as she plays, and prefers to nap with a paw touching her human. (Awww!)
Of course, Kona also has a tendency to get into some puppy mischief. She’s just a baby, after all! She has mastered crate-training and has made huge strides with housebreaking, but she’s still working on good manners—it’s hard not to jump up on people! —and has a tendency to bark at anything unfamiliar, including the occasional shadow or falling leaf. With a face that cute, it’s tempting to let her do whatever she wants; however, Kona needs structure and boundaries so she can grow into a healthy, confident adult. Her new family will need to set some ground rules and continue Kona’s training with love, patience, and positive reinforcement.
The ideal home for Kona is one with a dedicated, dog-savvy family who has the time and know-how to raise an active, growing puppy. Any type of family is fine with Kona—she loves humans of all shapes and sizes, including children, and she would be more than happy with a friendly canine companion. (Kitties are a no-go, unfortunately.) Since she can be a little loud when she sees something new or doesn’t get what she wants, an apartment might not be the best fit (unless you’ve got soundproofing or very chill neighbors). A fenced yard is preferred, since Kona needs to do some serious zoomies to get her ya-yas out, and also because she only likes going potty in the yard, not on walks. She also needs someone who is around most of the day, both to keep her on a bathroom schedule and ensure she gets the attention she needs. Kona would make a great office dog after she’s had some time to decompress and get familiar with the surroundings, but she’d also be more than happy to snooze at your feet (or on your lap) while you work from home.
Unsurprisingly, Kona’s mom is absolutely smitten with this beautiful girl, and tells us: “Kona is a sweetheart looking for a loving home that will give her lots of belly rubs/pets and be patient with her! Well we’re sold! If you think you and Kona would make the perfect match, then fill out an application and tell us why. Just be prepared to travel—Kona is rolling on her back for belly rubs in beautiful Southern California, and will not be shipped.
